The property is in a quiet, gated private road just five minutes stroll to the stunning white sandy Galu beach. The property is set in well maintained gardens with a large swimming pool. If required, our wonderful cook, Jonathan, will make all your meals; shop for your fresh fish, fruit and vegetables and help you with any trips you wish to organise. Your rooms will be cleaned daily; towels and sheets are provided; our house maid, Mkassy will do your washing, if required. All this is included in the price. There are some excellent local restaurants, including some on the beach; Jonathan will be happy to advise you and book a table. There are tennis courts five minutes walk from the property. Diani has a superb coral reef and you can arrange a boat trip to dive, snorkel or fish. There is also an 18-hole golf course in Diani, the only one on Kenya's south coast. There is an airstrip 10 minutes drive away with daily flights from Nairobi and to and from the major game parks.

Well-equipped and staffed main kitchen - large fridge/freezer, cooker, gas hob, toaster, glasses, cutlery and china for 14 people. Two kitchens in the guest house with fridges and cookers. Separate laundry area with washing machine and iron/ironing board plus clothes line. Living room and upstairs terrace in the main house. Two living rooms in the guest house and outside terrace. The main veranda has a dining area with seating for 14, plus seating areas for relaxing. There is a large upstairs terrace in the main house where you can relax, nap or enjoy a morning coffee. |

Notes on accommodation
All towels and linen included. The property is cleaned daily and sheets and towels changed according to clients requests.
The property is ideal for children. They have a large garden to explore, three resident tortoises to play with, two cats and the occasional visit from monkeys.
Outside
The garden is well established and with numerous tropical flowers and trees. The pool is approximately 15 meters in length and is cleaned daily. There are 8 comfortable loungers and an attractive table and chairs, shaded by a makuti umbrella for eating next to the pool.
Coast/Beach
The house is approximately five minutes walk to the breathtaking white sandy Galu beach. The beach is huge and never busy. Small boats can be hired from local fishermen for snorkeling or visiting the coral reef. The sea is clear and always a wonderful temperature. Trips can also be organised to Wasini Island marine park where it is possible to swim with wild dolphins.
Golf
There is an 18-hole golf course in Diani, the only one on Kenya's south coast.
Travel
Mombasa Moi international airport approx 1.5 hours drive. International flights arrive here and there are at least 10 flights daily from Nairobi. Ukunda Airstrip approx 10 minutes drive to the house. Daily flights from Nairobi and to and from the large game parks.
Distances
There are a number of stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables plus some small shops selling gifts within walking distance. There are also two shopping centres 10 minutes drive away with supermarkets, banks, ATMs, butchers, off licence, coffee shops and gift shops. Shimba Hills National Park and Elephant Sanctuary is an hour's drive away, perfect for a day safari. The elephant sanctuary has a wonderful restaurant on stilts where you can watch the elephants at the watering hole as you eat.
Further details
Massages can be arranged at the house. We have a massage table and use two local ladies who are excellent. Our housekeeper can organise this.
Booking notes
A 50% deposit is payable upon booking and the remainder due one month before arrival. Payment is by GBP.

About the owner
My husband and I live in the UK; we bought our house in January 2010, together with my parents. We lived in Africa many years ago and have been visiting Kenya for several years. After renting villas on a number of occasions we have a good idea of what guests want from a holiday and we feel sure Coconut Grove is the perfect place to stay. We decided to buy a property in Diani because we love the area; it is beautiful and quiet, yet there is plenty to do if you wish. We love staying at the house and have taken family and friends, all of whom have fallen for the charms of the Kenyan coast during their visits! Our two daughters, aged eleven and eight, adore coming out to the house - and especially seeing their pet tortoises!

Unique benefits of the property
Our wonderful staff are one of the highlights of staying at Coconut Grove. Guests comment time and again about how amazing they are. They work at the property all year and are helpful, willing and permanently cheerful! Everything is spotless and Jonathan, our housekeeper, is an excellent cook, preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner if required. He lives in a small house in the grounds and so is on hand 24 hours a day if needed. Jonathan will cook, shop, and organise trips and taxis. Nothing is too much trouble.The house is very easy to get to - there is a choice of two airports, though many Nairobi-based families drive to the coast. The beach is beautiful and often deserted. However, there are a number of hotels and restaurants along the coast which are great spots for lunch or dinner.
