Leleshwa House, Makuti Cottage and Buffalo Lodge are situated on a 5 acre plot within Green Park. The area is rich in wildlife and animals walk freely in the unfenced areas. An adjacent airstrip enables easy access by charter flight to and from Nairobi or to the Indian Ocean coast. There are scheduled flights from Nairobi to nearby Loldia airstrip and to the Masai Mara. Animal sanctuaries are within easy reach and Nakuru National Park is just a one hour drive. The Great Rift Valley Golf Course is now recognised as one of the best courses in East Africa. Properties on Green Park are of minimum size 5 acres and owners set aside land for wildlife such as buffalo, zebra, warthog and antelope to wander outside fenced boundaries particularly at night. For those who love birdlife the area is Utopia. A very competent chef is available for those who wish to have a restful holiday and there is a shop near the golf course for those wishing to self cater.

Notes on accommodation
The property is situated at an altitude of 2,200m above sea level. As a result there are virtually no mosquitoes and certainly not the malaria carrying variety. Daytime temperatures can be warmer than Nairobi, whilst at night the temperature is cool and pleasant for sleeping. For larger groups it would be worth considering renting our house and the adjoining Makuti cottage and Buffalo Lodge. The cottage sleeps 4 adults plus children and it an extremely comfortable and private residence in its own right. Sky TV and DVD are available and there are two bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen and lounge with an excellent balcony overlooking Lake Naivasha, the swimming pool and the colourful mature garden. The Lodge can sleep two adults plus children and is also self contained with its own kitchen and bathroom.
Accessibility
The access to Green Park is via the main Naivasha/Nakuru highway,11 Km past Naivasha and then another 11km on the well signposted murram North Lake Rd. Once inside the fenced Great Rift Valley Lodge and Country Complex, Green Park is signposted and easily located after driving through the golf course. Our property is situated just over the airstrip on the LHS and from our site there are excellent views in all directions.
Outside
The tropical and colourful gardens are a feature of the property with the cottage and other thatched outbuildings adjacent to the main house. There is a fenced off area for ducks and bantam hens, and a separate quarter for residential staff. A thatched lodge further down the property from the house, has excellent lake views and is an ideal venue for bush dinners, sundowners and BBQs. It has a separate and well equipped kitchen with utilities.
Coast/Beach
Most visitors to Kenya visit the Indian Ocean coast. It is very warm at sea level and there are some outstanding beaches and holiday resorts both north and south of Mombasa. We are able to assist guests with travel and booking arrangements. Flights can be arranged from Wilson or Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi and to Mombasa International airport or Ukunda Airport at Diani.
Golf
Great Rift Valley Golf Course has developed considerably and now rates as one of the finest in Kenya. The greens are outstanding and there are some spectacular holes overlooking the lake with the signature 17th hole going down the escarpment of the Rift Valley. Green Fees are modest and willing caddies always available. There is a heated swimming pool at the Lodge and two all weather tennis courts.
Special interest holidays
No visit to Kenya is complete without visiting animal sanctuaries and national parks. Safaris can be arranged in advance and many places of interest are within a radius of 40km from our property. Crater Lake, Chui and Kiangazi Lodges, Elsamere, Hell's Gate, Olkaria Thermal Area to name but a few. A boat trip on Lake Naivasha to see the hippo, other animals and the exotic bird life is a must. The migration in July/August from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara is a major tourist attraction every year. We can arrange golf tours within the area and also have contacts with rental 4x4 car and van hire. Transport to and from Nairobi can be arranged.
Travel
We are situated 110Km north of Nairobi, on a newly refurbished road funded by the European Community. 11Km north of Naivasha, the turnoff to the Great Rift Valley Lodge and Green Park is clearly signposted and the journey is on unmade road through rugged countryside, with plenty of wildlife in evidence. Flights to Green Park are with Safarilink from Wilson Airport and take approximately 20 minutes.

About the owner
My wife and I are both New Zealand citizens. Following a teaching career mostly in the UK, we moved to Kenya when I was appointed as Headmaster of a British Secondary School. Subsequently we managed the Karen Golf and Country Club in Nairobi for six years. On retirement we moved to a secure 5 acre site called Green Park overlooking Lake Naivasha and the Great Rift Valley Championship Golf Course. We initially designed and built Makuti Cottage, followed by our main residence, Leleshwa House. Subsequently we have added a fitness suite, a solar heated swimming pool whilst Buffalo Lodge in the bush is currently nearing completion. Our interests are golf, travel, bridge, swimming, gardening and design. Children will enjoy our farmlet with friendly dogs, ducks and chickens.
Year purchased: 2000
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We wanted to retire in a secure but rural area and relished the idea of developing a sloping 5 acre plot of native bush with great views over Lake Naivasha and the Rift Valley; designing and building our own residence and having a small farmlet. The location (called Green Park) is situated at an altitude of 2,200 metres above sea level which has benefits for our lifestyle, with very warm days but cooler nights than elsewhere in Kenya. Malaria carrying mosquitoes do not live at altitude so that is a considerable blessing. Both of us are keen golfers and the opportunity of living near a golf complex was appealing. Lastly, we love the wildlife that Kenya has to offer and all around us there are buffalo, antelope, zebra, and warthogs, whilst the birdlife is quite amazing in its diversity.
Unique benefits of the property
Living at altitude, we enjoy the perfect climate and sleep well. We swim daily in our solar heated pool and play golf several times a week. Our farmlet and those adjacent, provide us with fruit, fresh vegetables, chickens and eggs. We have much in common with our like minded multi-national neighbours, all of whom love living in Africa and there is a very strong community spirit. Within easy driving distances we can visit game sanctuaries and take boat trips on the lake. An adjacent landing strip provides easy access for charter flights, whilst Safarilink offer daily flights to nearby Loldia and the Masai Mara. Shopping is available on site, but we are only 30 minutes from Naivasha, 60 from Nakuru or 90 from Nairobi. Green Park has strict security and petty crime is almost non-existent.
