Kelso self-catering holiday accommodation is set in the south of Scotland, a part of the country famous for its rolling countryside, historical sites and interesting towns. Kelso has long held reputation for being one of Scotland’s most attractive towns. It sits in a fertile valley and is surrounded by hill ranges to the north and south. It’s well worth taking a stroll from your holiday home in Kelso to admire some of the architecture here. The ruins of Kelso Abbey are essential viewing, with the west tower still intact, while the market square is the largest in all of Scotland. There’s also a fantastic array of shops and excellent eateries within walking distance of Kelso holiday accommodation.

There’s much to see within a half hour of cottages in Kelso; Melrose Abbey is definitely one of the region’s standouts. This building dates back to the 12th Century and though largely intact is in a state of ruin. It is here that Robert the Bruce’s heart is believed to be buried. Elsewhere you’ll find Scott’s View, a few minutes from holiday homes in Kelso. This lookout, found in an area with evidence of prehistoric volcanic activity, offers wonderful views of the Borderlands and was a favourite of Sir Walter Scott.
