We are delighted to welcome you to our home, La Cuccagna, which is a traditionally built Italian retreat set in the heart of the Umbrian countryside. La Cuccagna lies between Perugia and Gubbio which is perfect for exploring the sights of Umbria and Tuscany and our hilltop position offers stunning, unspoilt views over the hills and valleys that stretch into neighbouring Tuscany. Passionately restored to exhibit all that you would expect from an Italian country residence. We have two buildings, the farmhouse providing Bed & Breakfast or self catering accommodation and ‘La Stalleta’ (the old cowshed), a self catering apartment. Both of these dwellings have been tastefully restored, preserving architectural features such as exposed beams, wooden lintels and stone walls. We are a English/Italian couple who love the way of life and all the area has to offer. We want you to enjoy your stay so we are happy to help you with any details of your trip or arrange any excursions.

Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible. Guests may check-in after 4.30 pm on the day of arrival & must check-out before 10am on the day of departure. Casa del Fatorre July & August only, changeover day is Saturday.

Casa del Fattore B&B
We have designed the entire ground floor of Casa del Fattore to house four comfortable bed and breakfast rooms. All rooms are either double or twin and all are en-suite. Two rooms feature a further pull out bed which is ideal for your offspring or a third person. The bedrooms are complemented by a lovely dining and living area and as you might expect from an Italian retreat, we have brought the countryside into our home by providing a spacious outdoor patio with shaded pergola where you can sit and enjoy the stunning views. The B&B accommodation in Casa del Fattore includes a delicious continental breakfast (which includes local homemade organic produce) which will set you up for the day‘s activities. Facilities include access to wireless internet.
Casa del Fatorre Self Catering Villa
We have designed the entire ground floor of Casa del Fattore to accommodate self catering villa accommodation with four comfortable and stylish bedrooms. All rooms are either double or twin and all are en-suite. Two rooms feature a further pull out bed which is ideal for your offspring or a third person. Our beds have been handmade by our local iron monger and our memory foam mattresses offer ultimate comfort for a good night sleep. The bedrooms are complemented by a lovely dining and living area and as you might expect from an Italian retreat, we have brought the countryside into our home by providing a spacious outdoor patio with shaded pergola where you can sit and enjoy the stunning views. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering. Facilities include access to wireless internet, washing machine, iron/ironing board and BBQ.
La Stalletta
The old cowshed has been comfortably restored as a holiday apartment and offers a kitchen/living area (with sofa-bed), double bedroom and bathroom. It also offers a spacious terrace with a pergola and BBQ, ideal for that alfresco dining experience. Accommodation in the old Cowshed is offered on a self-catering basis and sleeps 2-3. Facilities include access to wireless internet, washing machine, iron/ironing board and BBQ.

Accessibility
All our properties are on the ground floor facilitating easy access for wheelchairs. One bedroom in Casa del Fattore has been specifically designed to accommodate visitors with a wheelchair.
Outside
La Cuccagna is set in more than 11 acres of rural Italian countryside abundant in seasonal delights such as wild asparagus, fennel and truffles. We have landscaped around the pool area and the garden where we have planted a number of majestic old olive trees, vines, fruit trees and our own steady supply of fresh herbs.
You are free to explore our grounds and discover the wonders of nature at first hand or you could sit down, relax and enjoy the view in one of the many areas we have created for your comfort. Imagine yourself with a good book or a glass of Italian Red in hand!
Our infinity swimming pool is long enough for your morning exercise or for just cooling off and enjoying the breathtaking views. The infinity edge drops off into the beauty of the Umbrian Hills.
We have built a traditional stone oven which makes the most delicious bread and pizza. Our weekly ‘Pizza Night’ offers the chance to dine straight from the oven under the stars on the veranda.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is Fano on the Adriatic coast (105km).
Golf
There are two 18 hole golf courses within easy reach. Antognolla Golf and Country Club (26km, 20 mins) hosts a championship course, landscaped to exploit the natural beauty of the countryside, under the backdrop of the stunning Antognolla Castle. Perugia Golf Course is 38km (40 mins). Both courses are open all year and have equipment available for hire.
Special Interest Holidays
We harvest our olives in November when they are lovely and plump after the summer sun. We have over 400 trees on our grove which covers 10 acres of rolling Umbrian hillside.
If you fancy a rare opportunity to step off the day to day treadmill of life for a chance to really appreciate our environment and be at one with nature, then why not come and help us pick our olives. You’ll be surrounded by beauty and get plenty of fresh air that will leave you feeling satisfied for a good day’s work. The aroma of the olives as you pluck them from their branches is simply wonderful.
On picking days we indulge you in an al fresco picnic lunch, which includes a glass of wine or two. You will also be taken on a visit to the local Frantoio where you will watch the olives you have picked being pressed into delicious extra virgin olive oil, some of which you will be able to take home with you to share with your family and friends.
How to get there
La Cuccagna can be easily reached from Perugia Airport, just 20 minutes away. Car hire is recommended. Rental companies available at Perugia airport include Hertz, Europcar and Avis.
Other airports and approximate distances are: Ancona 1 hour 15 minutes. Rome 2 hours 15 minutes. Florence 2 hours 30 minutes. Bologna 2 hours 30 minutes. Pisa 3 hours.

Within 25-40 minutes - Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi, Todi, Spello, Lake Trasimeno, Deruta, Umbertide, Citta di Castello.
Within 1 hour - Cortona, Spoleto, Foligno, Sansepolcro, the National Parks of Monte Cucco and Monte Subbasio.
Within easy day trip - Orvieto, Siena, Arezzo, San Marino, Marmore Waterfalls, Sibillini Mountains and the Adriatic Coast.
Florence and Rome are 2-2.5 hours away.

Further facilities at La Cuccagna include wireless broadband connection and a well stocked honesty bar. Additional services that can be arranged include ‘at home’ dining and wine-tastings and a massage therapist.
At La Cuccagna we also offer the opportunity to learn the art of pasta or pizza making without even leaving the property.
There are several excellent restaurants within easy walking/driving distance of La Cuccagna without the need to go into town, some of which feature in regional/national guide books and are locally renowned. The local village has a small supermarket, a superb butcher who attracts custom from across the region, several grocers and a general store for all you immediate requirements, as well as the weekly markets in Gubbio and Perugia.
There is plenty to do in all seasons as Umbria is abundant with picturesque medieval towns and cities, castles and monasteries, vineyards, art galleries, museums and rolling hills and mountains.
Activities and courses within easy reach include walking, horse-riding, golf, watersports, hangliding, paragliding, microlighting, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, canyoning, cooking, weaving and painting.
The Universita degli Stranari (Foreigners University) in Perugia offers extensive courses in Italian language and culture.
If you would like to treat yourself there are facilities for spa treatments, massages etc just a few kilometres away.
