Changeover day
Preferred changeover day is Saturday. Arrive after 15:00 hours - depart 10:00 hours. However, during off-season periods we are flexible and sometimes we are able to accommodate different days and times.

Firenze (3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6)

Firenze is a rustic, creeper clad end of terrace cottage that overlooks the pool and the lower terrace which offers an attractive outdoor dining area. French doors open from the upper terrace into a large, very light living room with a handsome wood-burning fireplace, beamed ceiling and terracotta floor. The furnishings are comfortable and traditional, with attractive lamps, curtains and old prints. The separate custom-made kitchen of traditional tiles and heavy wooden doors has a dishwasher and the large downstairs shower room houses a washing machine. Upstairs the double bedroom overlooks the main terrace and garden. Its furnishings are bright and pretty. A second more traditional twin-bedded room has good antique furniture and the third has charming patchwork covers. There is plenty of storage space, room to sit and relax, and a second small shower room. Nearby is the BBQ area. This is cottage living in some style. Orvieto (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4/5)

Ivy-clad Orvieto cottage was formerly the estate manager's house - this has the original fireplace and staircase. French doors open off the terrace into a terracotta tiled floor, which helps keep the cottage nice and cool in summer. The living area, set out with comfortable furniture, has a separate dining area which looks onto the garden and pool. The kitchen here is small but has everything you need including a small dishwasher and washing machine. Also on this floor there is a cloakroom and a pretty double bedroom with a brick vaulted ceiling also overlooking the pool and garden. Upstairs is a large, well-equipped shower room, and an attractive traditionally furnished bedroom, approached through a studio room which can be a study with a good desk and extra seating or the sofa bed can make up into a third bedroom. Sienna (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4/5)

Opening off the terrace through French doors, Siena's living accommodation is simple but it has charm and character and particularly nice bedrooms. A space with useful coat hooks makes a little hallway before the attractive kitchen/dining room (washing machine and dishwasher) with a rustic fireplace and prints. There is also a good shower room on this floor and the cheerful little sitting room overlooking the garden has green and white striped sofa beds. Upstairs are two delightful bedrooms - one with wrought iron twin beds and an elegant antique bamboo table and chairs and the other, double bed, with a stylish chaise longue and Toile de Jouy-faced wardrobe. The second shower room is narrow and L-shaped but fits everything in. We can arrange any bed configuration to include cots if necessary.

Civita (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4)

Civita is on one floor and is at a different level of the old granary to the other cottages. The main entrance is on the terrace overlooking the swimming pool and alongside is the outdoor dining area. The French windows open onto a charming living room\dining room with a woodburning fireplace. There are two large attractive 'en suite' bedrooms each decorated in the same local rustic, yet modern style of all the holiday accommodation at Santa Cristina. A kitchen fully equipped with dishwasher with a service entrance this also has a separate washing machine facility.

Notes on accommodation
All cottages have gas central heating for the cold winter nights, although, even in late november it can be warm enough not to need heating. Of course, for the off-season guest, as Santa Cristina is in the heart of the forest, there is plenty of wood to burn to enjoy a cosy fireside evening with a glass of local wine and a good book.

Outside
The large pool is shared by the other holidaymakers and is attended each day by the estate gardienne. The grounds of the castle are well tended and you can play tennis, football, volleyball or take a trip in an off-road jeep. There are stables with 10 horses attended by a qualified riding instructor who will happily give lessons or for experienced riders organise treks for couple of hours or all day with a picnic by the lake.

There are many walks and not too far away is a lake that makes for a quiet and peacful place to while away an hour or two, in the evening sunshine, before dinner.

Coast/Beach
There are safe, unspoilt comfortable and attractive beaches very nearby with lakeside restaurants, boating and water sports - just 3 kilometres away - all around the very large freshwater lake Bolsena. If you prefer a beach by the sea then you will find the best beaches about 45 minutes drive through the attractive Tuscan countryside to the very attractive Capalbio beach on the Med where the inhabitants of Rome prefer to spend their leisure time by the sea.

Golf
There is a small nine hole golf course about a 50 minute drive and a rather grand 18 hole course about an hour and a quarters drive.

Skiing
Skiing isn't really an option unless you wish to drive for more than an hour.

Travel
Nearest airports are Rome (Ciampino and Fumincino) and Perugia both about an 1.5hrs away by motorway. Although you do not need a car it is strongly recommended that you do hire some form of transport.

Just a short note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Santa Christina. A beautiful location, excellent facilities and very comfortable accommodation. The pool was a real plus point especially as we were blessed with such good weather. We had a wonderful time during our stay in Italy.
