The house is on the outskirts of a small village (less than 1,000 inhabitants) not far from Campobasso, the regional centre of Molise.

Coast/Beach
La Serra is ideal for those seeking a quiet, relaxing holiday in a still unspoilt part of Italy. There are, however, lots of places of interest nearby if you wish to explore; the Adriatic coast and the Matese Mountains are under an hour's drive away. In the area of Monte Vairano (2 miles away) archeological findings of the Samnite period (500 B.C.) have been discovered belonging to the ancient city of Aquilonia destroyed by the Romans in 293BC.

Nearest airports Rome Ciampino 2.5 hours by car. Rome Fiumincino 3 hours by car. Pescara 2 hours by car. Naples 2 hours by car. Car hire is essential, although airport transfers can be arranged.
Distances
Village centre 5 mins walk. Campobasso (nearest town) 20 mins drive. Termoli/Campomarino (coastal resorts) 50 mins drive. Campitello Matese (mountains) 50 mins drive. Sepino (Roman site) 30 mins drive.

The village has a supermarket, several shops (bakery, butcher's, greengrocer's, chemist), several bars and a pizzeria/restaurant.
Booking notes
A non-refundable deposit of £100, payable by cheque, is required at the time of booking. The balance is payable on arrival in cash in euros.
Guest comments
La Serra is a perfect place either for a quiet family or small adult group holiday. If you want to escape from the tourist track, this is an ideal spot. Although quite remote, it is easy to get to places of historical interest, the coast, local agritourismo eateries and nearby towns by car. However, if like me you feel that any journey is an integral part of your holiday, then the use of public transport, although difficult, is not impossible. I have used both train and coach to get to and from Rome to Campobasso. As the house is owned by a well known local family you will be welcomed by the villagers as their visitors in the shops, the bar, the piazza and the pizzeria. Everyone wants to talk to visitors. To sample the typical authentic day to day life of Molise this is an ideal spot. Forget the tourist traps and sample rural Italy at its best in Busso. Local cheeses and produce are sold weekly at a very small market in the piazza.
