The Cottage 'Il Castagno' (Italian for chestnut) is situated in woodland (mainly chestnut - thus the name). It is accessed via a private road, 300 metres from the small hillside road that leads from the village of Partigliano. Further up the hillside (2 mins) is a very good restaurant called Guzzanello. The house is built into the mountainside in a truly peaceful place, totally unspoilt and commanding superb views across the valley into Celle di Puccini the birthplace of the composer Puccini and further to the snow capped mountains of the Apuan Alps. Il Castagno was recently featured in an ITV programme about interesting houses to consider purchasing in Tuscany.

Enjoyed a wonderful stay at Il Castgano. The local area really surprised us in terms of plenty to see and do. There is is a splendid restaurant right on the the doorstop but a car is very necessary for everything else. Ben & Joanne Lawson.
