Bella Terra is a restored stone farmhouse with an excellent pool that has wonderfully spacious, well proportioned rooms filled with light and enjoying rural views of the surrounding hillsides and the large olive grove belonging to the property. Guests have exclusive use of the entire house and pool in a completely private setting. Bella Terra was restored in 2001 making maximum use of authentic materials, such as the terracotta tiles used for flooring throughout the house and the massive chestnut beams, painstakingly restored and replaced. The main house has two floors, connected by an impressive stone staircase opening into a gallery on the upper level, which overlooks the large farmhouse-style kitchen and dining room. The appealing loggia at the front entrance leads into the kitchen with a handsome stone fireplace.
Beyond the kitchen / dining area is a bedroom with spacious bathroom.

Changeover day
Preference is given to stays of at least 1 week, beginning and ending on Saturday, but if this does not suit, please enquire about the possibility of different arrangements. Discounts are offered for bookings of longer than one week.

Notes on accommodation
The property is particularly suitable for families with young children - a room opening off one of the large bedrooms can serve as a nursery and two cots are provided.
Accessibility
The ground floor could serve as self-contained accommodation for guests who have difficulty with stairs. It is a large open-plan space with just two steps down to the bathroom and laundry, and level access onto the grounds.
Outside
The roofed loggia at the entrance to the kitchen/dining room is a shaded and convenient outdoor dining spot within easy reach of the kitchen. There is also a large circular stone terrace with views over the 3 hectares of private grounds. The new pool is a generous size at 12x6m and is surrounded by a wide, paved terrace, well lit for evening use. The water is treated by the most up-to-date saline system. Pool towels are provided and there is plenty of outdoor furniture for use by the pool and on the patio.
Coast/Beach
Various water sports are available at Lake Trasimeno, 15 mins away. Ferries operate from several lakeside towns to the two larger islands on the lake, for hiking, beaches and restaurants.
Golf
The beautiful Antognolla golf course is only about 20 minutes from the property.
Travel
The closest airport is Perugia, which is served by Ryanair from London Stansted, only 30 minutes from Bella Terra. Other airports, such as Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino, Ancona, Pisa and Florence, are approximately two hours' drive. Car hire is essential to explore the area.
Distances
The hilltop village of Castel Rigone is 10 minutes away and has several restaurants, a food and wine store, pharmacy and bars. The town of Magione is 10 minutes away and has a full range of shops, banks and other services. The Perugia - Siena link road is quickly reached and provides easy access to Assisi, Spoleto, Deruta, Castiglione del Lago and the A1 to Rome and Florence.
Further details
There are weekly produce markets in the local towns which are great fun to visit and sell a wide range of produce, cheeses, cured meats and local specialty foods. There are many festivals in the area such as the Candle Race (Festa dei Ceri) in Gubbio, the Infiorate (floral street art) in Spello, the jazz festival and chocolate festival in Perugia and, of course, the famous Palio (horse race) in Siena.
