This lovely villa is traditionally furnished,with double and twin rooms on the first floor, plus an attractively tiled shower room/wc. On the ground floor, there is a large fitted kitchen/dining room with oven and hob, a living room and a cloakroom/wc. There is a separate 'dependenze', with another double bedroom and shower room/wc. A large covered patio with fully equipped outside kitchen and barbecue provides for delightful 'al fresco' dining. Mature lawned gardens with beautiful palms and cacti, surround the villa and there is covered parking for two cars. It is securely gated, offering a good deal of privacy and there is a sheltered bathing spot just 100m away. Both double bedrooms have air-con and the entire villa benefits from screened windows, to allow a cooling air-flow. There is a local store/pizzeria within 300m and numerous restaurants and sandy bathing spots within a 10 minute drive. Helpful English speaking agents are on hand should you have any problems during your stay.

Stairs, tiled floors and a first floor balcony mean that this property is not ideal for children.
Outside
The villa is set in delightful, mature lawned gardens with palms, cacti and a variety of colourful flora. A large covered patio area to the rear of the villa, with full kitchen and barbecue facilities provides for typically Sicilian outdoor living.
Sun loungers are also provided and an outside shower allows for cooling off on the hottest days when you just want to stay in the garden.
Coast/Beach
Open you bedroom windows to the sounds of the sea! There is a sheltered bathing spot just 100m from the villa, and several sandy beaches within a 10 minute drive.
The nicest beach is just twelve minutes drive to the west and offers parking under the trees, crystal clear azure water and a stretch of golden sand that is rarely crowded. In the summer, there are refreshments available as well as showers and WCs.
Special interest holidays
Southern Sicily abounds with archaeological and architectural interest and Villa Smeralda is ideally situated as a base from which to explore these sites and towns. Plemmirio is itself is sited in an area of protected coastline adjacent to the Regional Park of Capo Murro di Porco, just yards from the villa.
Travel
The villa is a pleasant 45 minutes drive from Catania airport, and car hire is recommended to take full advantage of this beautiful region and the many beaches, restaurants and places of interest within it. Palermo airport is approx. 3 hours away.
Distances
Siracusa and Ortigia are just ten minutes drive away, with many historical sites to see. The historic towns of Noto and Agrigento are within easy driving distance to the west.
Further details
Whilst ten minutes away in Siracusa there are all the amenities that one would expect of a modern and cosmopolitan European city, there are plenty of restaurants and general stores closer to the villa for those occasions when you don't want to go into the 'town.'
There is a general store/pizzeria/bar within 300m of the villa which is open for fresh bread, milk, pastries etc every day. They also do a very good spit roast chicken to take away!
Booking notes

A deposit of £300 per week is required to secure a booking with the balance due six weeks prior to your arrival.
A £350 returnable deposit is also required against damages and excess cleaning charges.

Your advice was also most welcome - the beach in the trees (which was our favourite and most visited) would never have been found - and we visited most of the recommended restaurants and had a memorable time in Ortigia (food markets, dinners, drinks etc).
