'I Cipressi' is situated in the north of Tuscany in the province of Lucca, set in the foothills of the Appenines with their covering of acacia, beech, pine and chestnut forests. The farmhouse nestles on the hill, overlooking the Serchio Valley, behind the village of Calavorno, a mile up a winding wooded road. Calavorno, just 17 miles from Lucca and 60 miles from Florence, is roughly midway between the historic gems of Bagni di Lucca and Barga, and is therefore perfectly situated to allow easy access to every conceivable type of holiday, not only the classical cities and medieval towns but exquisite ancient hilltop villages, mountains, forests, beach and sea as well as breathtaking scenery. Calavorno has a full complement of small shops and includes a bakery, a trattoria and a friendly bar and there are many excellent restaurants within a short distance. Trains and buses run regular services to Lucca and Florence. Buses stop in Calavorno and trains just 2 miles up the valley.

You can appreciate the place even in summer, climbing the mountains to the high peaks.

Special interest holidays
For the energetic there is tennis, cycling, golf and fishing.
Tennis is available in most of the local villages and our representative will be able to advise you on the most enjoyable. There are tennis rackets at the house and of course there is table tennis equipment there also.
You can hire cycles in most villages and towns and it can be great fun either cycling around the Lucca walls or perhaps along the coastal promenades.
Although golf is only just catching on in Italy, there is a superb 18-hole course at Montecatini, which is set in an old olive grove with cypresses. Golf clubs are available for hire, as are buggies. It really is a wonderful set-up.
There are water sports all along the Versilian Riviera, less than an hours drive away.
When weather permits there is fishing in the River Serchio.
The horse riding and trekking is organised from numerous centres in a 32 km radius which vary in surroundings and facilities, from the ultra friendly local stables.

Guest comments
"This most excellent Tuscan farmhouse - what a joy. Having visited and stayed in Italy many times, especially at our favourite, Bagni di Lucca, this must rate as the loveliest holiday home we have ever stayed at. The views will be imprinted forever. Looking forward to our return here"
The B. Family of Bearstead, Kent.
"I Cipressi was well up to our expectations and was well furnished, well equipped, clean, comfortable and charming. The swing chair on the patio was an ideal spot to doze off on a warm afternoon, and lunch overlooking the spectacular view, was a frequent pleasurable event. Full marks also for the Information Book which should be an industry benchmark and the large number of maps, guides, etc. which were very useful. The pool was excellent and immaculately maintained."
Mr. M. of Sheffield.
"From the exquisite scent of the wisteria by the pool to the yellow rose by the parking space, we loved the beautiful experience of 'I Cipressi'.
