This 'jewel' of an apartment has been completely renovated and refurbished to a very high standard. It is located in a completely renovated historic building on an award winning street in the heart of the charming, walkable and quiet Giudecca neighborhood of Ortigia. It consists of a living room with dining area and kitchen, a double bedroom and a modern bathroom. The apartment is located in the heart of the Ortigia Island historic district in Siracusa. It is only a few minutes walk to Piazza Duomo, the Ionian Sea, the ancient Jewish mikvah, the Temple of Apollo and many other historic monuments and sites, not to mention fine restaurants, shopping, a seaside promenade and more. The ancient Greek Theatre. The archeological park and museums are a half hour’s walk or 10 minute’s drive away. The airport at Catania is approximately an hour’s drive to the north. (Small local beach is a 5 minute walk away. Swim with locals and tourists alike on the shoals surrounding Ortigia!)

Changeover day
We are highly flexible with regard to arrival and departure times and the changeover days between guests/visitors. We are happy and willing to accommodate.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | The bedroom is furnished with an antique double bed, a bedside table and it has a large walnut wood wardrobe with drawers for clothes storage and ample hanging space for clothes and luggage storage. (Guests repeatedly tell us the bed is 'heavenly'). |
| Bathrooms: | The modern, sunny, windowed bathroom has been decorated with lovely hand-painted wall and floor tiles and offers a large frameless glass walk-in shower, sink, bidet and toilet. Plenty of hot water and excellent water pressure too! |
| Kitchen: | The kitchen has been equipped with a hand painted Sicilian style ceramic sink, gas range/stove, microwave oven, refrigerator and a small oven. There is also a washing machine (with dryer function!) housed under the sink area. |
| Living Rooms: | The private entrance to the apartment leads into an entrance hall area that in turn provides access to the living room. There is a classic Sicilian built-in corner kitchen area, done with hand-made tiles and co-ordinating designer ceramic sink. |

Linens and towels are provided. The property is thoroughly cleaned before guests enter to rent the apartment and again after guests leave. We are happy to arrange additional cleaning and linen services. |

Coast/Beach
A 5 minute walk from the apartment is all it takes to reach the sea and a 'beach' used by locals and tourists alike. A 10 minute walk and 15 minute pleasant ferry ride away from the apartment is a sandy beach. Further down the coast from Siracusa, within a half hour drive are beautiful sandy beaches and day resorts. (For those who are interested, there is even a nude beach!)
Skiing
Nearby Mount Etna provides skiing facilities.
Travel
The nearest airport is Catania's Fontanarossa Airport located approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour north of Siracusa. If one intends to spend the entire vacation in Siracusa itself a car is not necessary at all. Should the traveller desire to see some of the provincial towns and villages a car is recommended and readily available for hire.
Distances
The major tourist attractions in Siracusa are easily reachable on foot, taxi or by local bus and are not more than half hour away from the historic centre of town where the apartment is located. Villages and towns such as Noto, Modica, Ragusa, Palazzolo Acreide, Lentini, Carlentini and others are between 30 and 90 minutes drive of Siracusa, depending on the town.
Further details
There is a wide range of activities available in Siracusa and the surrounding area. Siracusa is known for its Greek Theatre in which the classic dramas are performed every year in early summer. In addition, there are many concerts, operas and plays during the extended summer season. The feast of Santa Lucia is a special celebration held each year on 13 December and the 1st Sunday of every May.

We prefer a minimum 4 day rental. 300 euro deposit requested at time of booking either by PayPal, check or interbank transfer. Remaining payment payable upon arrival by cash (euros) or certified check.
