Our bright, attractive apartment is just a 5 minute drive from the small fishing village of Argegno with its surprisingly plentiful choice of bars and restaurants. The raised ground floor of a private villa situated in a quiet residential area on the edge of a wood, it is an ideal starting point for several wonderful walks. Or just relax and sip wine on the balcony and enjoy the lake views. Perfect for a quiet relaxing holiday exploring the beauty of the Lake Como area and surrounding mountains. Easy access by car and parking space close by. Away from traffic and hustle of busier villages.

Notes on prices
Prices are for 2 persons per week / per night in UK Pounds. Recommended occupancy 2 but requests for additional guests will be considered (max total occupancy 4) at minimal extra charge. Minimum stay 4 nights. Stays with mid-week arrivals/departures may be accepted but will be charged on a per night basis even if for 7 nights or more. Exceptions may be made for low season bookings. Discounts for long winter lets. Supplements may be applied for Christmas, New Year and Easter bookings.
Changeover day
Saturday is preferred. Alternative arrival dates will be evaluated on request.

5 minutes drive to Argegno with stony beach, 15 minute drive to the Lido of Lenno, 25 minute drive to Lido of Menaggio with lakeside outdoor swimming pool and children's pool, 20 minute drive to Lido of Cernobbio with outdoor pool.

Travel
Milan Malpensa, 67km approx 1 hour drive. Milan Linat 88km approx 1½ hour drive. Orio al Serio, Bergamo, 114km approx 1¾ hours drive. Venice Marco Polo approx 350km approx 4 hour drive. Lugano Agno 60km approx 1½ hour drive. Car hire strongly recommended (small to medium sized car best as lake roads are narrow).

Further details
A boat trip around the lake is a must (Argegno nearest port of call). Villas to visit (Villa Carlotta, Villa Balbianello and many more). Como, Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio are well worth a visit. At the Castello di Vezio in Varenna you can see birds of prey and breathtaking views. Visit our friends Andrea and Gaia in Argegno to taste the best homemade ice-cream on Lake Como! Plenty of good restaurants in the vicinity - our recommendations will be found in the guest book in the apartment. As well as the lake do not forget our beautiful mountains. For those who enjoy walking we can recommend our favourite itineraries and for those who just wish to enjoy the views and fresh air without the walking too far Sighignola, the ‘Balcony of Italy’, is a 20 mins drive away and boasts amazing viewpoint with a restaurant/bar. From Argegno you can take the cable car up to Pigra (Lazy) a picturesque mountain village overlooking the lake. If you are after Italian Designer Clothes, shoes or household products visit Fox-Town in Mendrisio Switzerland (about 30km, 30 min drive). VIP villas in the vicinity (Clooney, Sting, Versace and more. Several mountain bike itineraries in the area. For those after a night at the ‘La Scala’, Milan is an hour and a half by car/metro. For formula one fans Monza is about an hour away by car. Venice is a 4 hour drive away and San Moritz is a 3 hour drive away.
Booking notes
25% non-refundable deposit required to confirm booking, full payment 6 weeks before arrival by bank transfer. On arrival 250 euros (or GBP equivalent) fully refundable damage deposit payable in cash or by cheque and a 50 euros final cleaning charge in cash plus 5 euros per day as heating contribution in winter months.

About the owner
My husband and I are in our forties and we live in our property. Two floors are ours and one is the apartment we rent out on owners direct. We have 2 daughters (preteens), two dogs and two cats. We enjoy good food, the country life, walking, skiing and being outdoors.
My Italian husband is a craftsman and I work part time as a PA.
My mother is English and my father is Italian (they live close by us too). I was born, brought up and educated in Surrey and moved to Italy in my early twenties. My parents moved back here when they retired and I was already married.
Our children were born in Italy and are bilingual (although their English is not perfect).
I actually worked as a tour guide on the lake when I first moved over.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We bought the property because we fell in love with the views and the position.
We love the area because we are not far from Como and Lugano. We are a 5 minute drive from the lake but in a really quiet position with amazing views. Also we are in a good location for accessing the mountains above the Lake.
Argegno is close enough to be convenient without being too close. We like to be away from the busier roads, traffic and crowds without being too remote.
It is a small village and the children can play outside, in the woods and bike to the park without us worrying. We love seeing deers regularly and uncontaminated countryside.
We feel truly privileged to live in such a beautiful area.
Shame about Berlusconi but nothing is perfect ... and we have got George!
Unique benefits of the property
The main plus is the panoramic and peaceful position away from the traffic. Our guests also benefit from our experience of living in the area for 20 years. Because we also live here there is the personal touch of an Italo-English family being on hand answer any questions or provide info they may require.
Also our position also gives guests the chance to explore the lovely green Valle d'Intelvi and local mountains and not just the more well-known lake resorts.
Our guest comment book is so full of wonderful comments that we cannot fit them in the space for comments on this ad, so we can only say that our guests seem to appreciate the apartment and the location as much as we do ...
