Childfree tranquillity is yours with a choice of two exquisite, lovingly restored, independent cottages (each sleeping two) in the grounds of an historic, hillside farmhouse. The two acre mature garden, completely at guests' disposal, is bursting with fruit trees, olives, rare conifers and numerous antiquities, including a 2000 year old Roman cistern! The pool which nestles in the olive grove, is for our guests' exclusive use. You will never feel crowded. It has a natural Sienese stone surround and wonderful panoramic views overlooking Etruscan Arezzo and beyond to the Pratomagno mountains. If you can tear yourself away from the beauty and calm of La Torre, then Arezzo, the setting for the Oscar-winning film 'Life is Beautiful' is just 10 mins away. It has a cosmopolitan atmosphere of laid back chic; cafes - to watch the world go by, antique shops to browse in, street markets, designer outlets and its famous goldsmiths. Florence, Siena and Cortona are all under an hour away.

Notes on prices
These prices are per week from Saturday to Saturday and are in UK pounds sterling. See our website for a currency conversion table. They include everything except central heating in the cooler months and pool towels in the Summer.
If your weeks are booked please contact us for details of our new rental for two in nearby Cortona.

Changeover day
As with most Tuscan properties Saturday is the changeover day, however, in the low season we can be more flexible - so please just ask and we'll accommodate you if we can.
The arrival time is 5pm and the departure time 10 am.

Accommodation
La Veduta (1 Bedroom, Sleeps 2)
La Veduta has been authentically restored and many original features have been retained - there are chestnut beams, terracotta floors and ceilings throughout. It has been furnished in an elegant, yet comfortable style with many antiques including an antique billiard table. The large sitting/dining room, with fireplace, has excellent views over the garden to the distant mountains. There is also a small library and music centre for guests' use.
The romantic bedroom, with shuttered windows, has a hand-made Tuscan wrought-iron double bed and other Tuscan chestnut furniture.
The brand-new bathroom - with large shower area, toilet, washbasin and storage is the latest in Italian design. An automatic washing machine, iron and hair dryer are also provided.
The kitchen is also new - with luxury appliances; concealed dishwasher, full electric oven, 4 ring gas hob, extractor hood, large fridge-freezer, toaster, coffee maker, cool bag. All dining and cooking equipment is also provided.

Il Bacio (1 Bedroom, Sleeps 2)
Il Bacio, which in Italian means the Kiss, is the epitome of romantic bliss for two! It used to be the chestnut drying house but is now the cutest cottage - with everything you could need. It has chestnut beams, terracotta floors and has been furnished with country antiques which enhance the romantic atmosphere. The main room, down just a couple of steps from the front door has a sitting area with fireplace, (CD player, small library), dining table, and tucked under the main staircase is an oak dresser which opens to reveal a kitchen - fridge, fan, storage, sink, worktop, fast 2 ring hob, toaster, all cooking and dining equipment, cool bag.
The bedroom, complete with a hand-made wickerwork double bed and other lovely typical Tuscan antiques is on the mezzanine level, and has a wonderful window for night time views over the mountains.
The bathroom has a large douche shower head, toilet, washbasin and storage - all the latest in Italian design. A hair dryer is also supplied.

Notes on accommodation
If your weeks are booked, please contact us for details of our new rental for two. Not suitable for children or the infirm because of the terraced site. No smoking in cottages. Sorry, pets are not allowed. Central heating, Fireplaces, Secure car parking on site, Fans, Free Welcome/Breakfast pack, All bedroom, bathroom and kitchen linens provided for weekly change. Outside
The two acre mature, terraced garden which overlooks Arezzo and the mountains beyond, is complemented with dozens of fruit trees, rare conifers, vines, and its own olive grove. Numerous herbs grow in the garden both wild and cultivated and guests are free to use them.

Garden furniture - benches and loungers are dotted around the garden for guests to enjoy the ever-changing scenes from La Torre.

A 10 x 5 metre pool, with panoramic views over the city and mountains beyond, is for guests use only. It nestles in the olive grove, and has a natural Sienese stone surround and grass-lawn sunbathing deck.

La Veduta has a huge terrace and private garden complete with outside dining furniture, sun loungers and numerous pots of flowering plants.

Il Bacio also has its own garden and the cutest, sheltered terrace for two you've ever seen right in front of the original forno (wood burning oven). Sun loungers are also provided.

Coast/Beach
Arezzo is midway between the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas - so about 1 1/2 to 2 hours East or West to each respectively. However, Lake Trasimeno, the fourth largest lake in Italy is just an hour from here, has some bathing beaches. There are also numerous Spa resorts nearby, contact us for details.

Special interest holidays
1 day Tuscan cooking courses can be provided on site with chef who has 30 years experience teaching food and cookery classes. Course can be arranged especially for you. Please contact us for details.

Travel
Arezzo and La Torre are easily reached because of the area's excellent communication and transport system. The nearest airport is Florence (1 hr.) but Perugia, Pisa, Forli, Bologna, Roma are all equally convenient.
The main Italian autostrada -the A1, which runs North/South from Milan to Naples is just 20 minutes drive from La Torre.
Arezzo's main line railway station is just a 10 minute drive from La Torre - However, to get the best out of Tuscany we suggest car hire is essential.

Distances
Bagnoro, the nearest village is just 5 minutes drive away, it has a well-stocked shop/bar and is open every day.

Arezzo, just 10 minutes drive away has everything the 21st century traveller could possibly need - banks, buses, taxis, shops, huge supermarkets, trains, restaurants, markets, museums, churches and countless other places of interest.

Further details
La Torre is set on the boundary of a State park and from here there are many wonderful walks (some easy and some a little more demanding) in the woods, along country lanes and even to the top of Monte Lignano where you can see for around 60 miles - south to Lake Trasimeno to Monte Amiata beyond.

Cortona - the beautiful setting for 'Under the Tuscan Sun' (the book and the film) is just 40 minutes away - and it hasn't been spoilt.

Siena and Florence - each with a proud and different history are only an hour from La Torre.

The Chianti Classico wine area and the timeless Tuscan hill towns of Montalcino, Montepulciano, Poppi, Anghiari and San Gimignano are all easy drives for the perfect Tuscan day - touring and tasting! You will not be disappointed!!

The St. Francis of Assisi trail - (Assisi itself is also easily reached from here in about an hour and a half), Etruscan historical sites, the birthplaces and locations of many recorded scenes of Michelangelo, Piero della Francesca and Leonardo da Vinci.

The fantastic Arezzo antiques fair held on the first Sunday of every month and the Saturday before. Stalls crowd the old town with everything from a Medici fireplace to lace tableclothes. A wonderful way to spend your first Sunday buying or just browsing.

The Giostra del Saracino, a medieval re-enactment, with hundreds of costumed participants, held in June and September - similar to the Siena Palio but with Jousting not horse racing. A chance to see real Italy and the passion that all the Aretini have for 'their' knight!.

Numerous International Music Festivals. Wine Tours. Truffle Hunting. Photographic Fair held twice a year in Arezzo.

Finally the fashion designer outlets of Prada, Gucci, D & G,
Ferragamo and Valentino and numerous others are all under an hour away by car. We'll give you the directions.
