Casa Cordino is an old stone farmhouse set in the wooded hills of the Umbrian Upper Tiber Valley, with views over a uniquely Italian rural landscape towards the hills of the Appenines. We have restored it using traditional materials where possible, and have been careful to incorporate all the features you need to immediately feel relaxed and at home. There are comfortable bedrooms, fully fitted kitchens and large, separate living spaces. Outside you have your own terrace and barbecue to enjoy that outdoor living you've been so looking forward to. Or you can while away the day alternately soaking up the sun and cooling off at the 12x6m pool set in its own large paved terrace area equipped with sun loungers and sun shades. We live in the remainder of the house with our dog, and are always available for help and information.

Prices are in pounds per week and include all linen and towels, electricity and gas for cooking and hot water. Gas for central heating will be charged at cost. Cot and high chair are available for no extra charge if needed them. A pack of groceries is provided for your arrival.
Bookings of over 2 weeks or of both apartments together will attract a discount.
Changeover day
Changeover is on Saturday. Arrival may be between 4pm and 7pm, and guests are asked to leave by 10am. If your travel times do not fit with these times, do please let us know and we will see what arrangements we can make.
Accommodation

Notes on accommodation
This is a large apartment for two, and has a warm traditional feel with many exposed stone walls and ceilings throughout beamed in chestnut and pine.
With our inclusive prices, we give you the following (any possible extra costs are indicated):
All electricity plus gas for cooking and hot water - gas for the central heating is charged extra at cost only. Welcome pack of groceries plus wine. There is a gas BBQ for exclusive use.
There is a selection of books and published guides, plus local guides for shopping and restaurants. Satellite TV plus DVD player, with use of shared DVD library. Stereo set with radio, CD, USB and iPod docking. Internet point.
Shared laundry room with washing machine (powder, softener, etc. included). Ironing facilities.
A cot is available with high chair and changing mat.
Accessibility
Given the hilly nature of the land the house is not suitable for wheelchair access or the infirm.
Outside
The house is set in over 3 hectares, much of which is woodland, but with some old olive trees still preserved. The apartment has its own terraces set under pergolas with tables, chairs and a gas BBQ for exclusive use. The views from the terraces to the valley below and hills beyond are mesmerising. And here you will spend many an hour mesmerised by the views, before you succumb to the temptation of that first refreshing drink and rousing yourself to BBQ your dinner.
The 6m x 12m pool is surrounded by a paved terrace with chairs, sun beds and umbrellas. Depth runs from 1.2m to 2.0m. The South and West aspects are open and ensure long hours of sunshine allowing you to make the most of those long summer days in and around the pool.
There is ample car parking on the property.
Coast/Beach
Lake Trasimeno is approx. 45 mins drive away and has beaches, water sports, boat trips to the islands and opportunities for bird watching.
The Adriatic coastline is about 2 hours drive to the East, with resorts such as Rimini, Gabicce Mare, Fano, Ancona, San Benedetto del Tronto and others.
Special interest holidays
Wine tasting tours to selected Umbrian cantinas can be pre-booked with an accredited english-speaking sommelier. To ensure availability, please give plenty of notice if you are interested in this.
Tours of Assisi with an English-speaking guide can be arranged with prior notice.
Travel
To get the most from your holiday you must have a car. The approximate driving times to the most useful airports are: Perugia 1hr; Florence 2hrs; Bologna 2hrs; Ancona 2hrs; Pisa 2hrs; Rome (Ciampino and Fiumicino) 3hrs.
Train travel is relaxing and here in Italy is still relatively inexpensive. You may find this useful for days out in Rome, Florence, Bologna. Main line stations can be reached in less than an hour. There is also a local single line train service to Perugia.
Distances
The nearest villages are Calzolaro and Spedalicchio (bars and small stores) 5km. A little farther are the larger towns of Trestina, 8km, Citta di Castello, 15km, and Umbertide, 12km. These towns have weekly markets, supermarkets, banks, post offices, hospitals, doctors' surgeries, pharmacies, garages. Within half an hour's drive there are innumerable restaurants and pizzerias.
Further details
The major attractions of Florence, Siena, Cortona, Arrezzo, Assisi and Perugia are all within easy reach by car. There is a main line train station near Cortona and it is particularly useful for Florence, Arrezzo and Rome. A local single track railway runs between San Sepolcro and Perugia, with stations at towns in the area.
But the many old, well-preserved towns in the region shouldn't be overlooked. They are well worth a visit for architecture, museums, markets, shops and restaurants.

Booking notes
To reserve an apartment a non-refundable 20% deposit is required, with the balance to be paid 8 weeks before your arrival. A cash deposit of €200 is payable on arrival and will be refunded on departure, with any adjustments for breakages, etc.
