S Apollinare is a 12th century castellated village in Umbria, about 15km south west of Perugia and the same distance south of Lake Trasimeno; it is in the hilly county south west of the Tiber valley. The village consists of a castle and one street – a flight of shallow steps – and all the houses in this part are of medieval origin, although there are newer farm houses out side the village. The cottage like the castle is nearly 1,000 years old and has recently been renovated to a high standard. In the cottage is a well-fitted kitchen and a large living/dining room; Outside there is a shaded courtyard and large sun terrace for outdoor living. We have no swimming pool, but here you can get a taste of real Italian village life! We have friendly and helpful neighbours some of whom speak English.

Towels and linen are included. No maid service. The house will thoroughly serviced before every let. |
Notes on accommodation
The cottage has full double glazing and gas central heating making it useable and very comfortable in all seasons. All windows are shuttered and as it has very thick walls the cottage is never too hot in summer!

Outside
The garden is on 2 levels, both with tables and chairs, plants and trees in pots all flowering to make for very comfortable outdoor living spaces. The upper level has a pergola for shade and ample space for the childrens pool we have.
Coast/Beach
Lake Trasimeno is nearby with sandy beaches.
Travel
By Air – The nearest airport is Perugia. Flights go directly from Stanstead to Perugia, currently every other day . Otherwise Rome is most easily available; Florence is an easier drive. Ancona, also from Stanstead, the road is not motorway but much quieter. These three all take about 2 hours.
Distances
Spina 1.6km. Marsciano 11km. Perugia 25km. Assisi, Orvieto, Gubbio, Todi and many other historical cities are within short driving distance.

Booking notes
A reservation payment of £250 per week is required upon booking with the remainder to be paid 4 weeks before holiday dates. No returnable deposit is required but any breakages will be charged at the local market rate.
