Changeover day
Changeover day is normally Saturday, although there is some flexibility. Arrival time is after 5 pm, and departure by 10 am.

Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service: |
All bedlinen and towels are included, pool towels also. Rita comes in to clean every day except Sunday. Sheets and towels are changed regularly. A cook is available if required. |
Notes on accommodation
The pool cottage (1 double & 1 twin bedroom) offers a shady, covered terrace with refrigerator for poolside drinks. It also has a bathroom with shower.
Nature lovers will appreciate the large pond which lies away from the main house. Sip a glass of wine while watching the frogs dive and the fireflies dance as the sun sets over the hillside.
The abundant vegetable garden offers guests fresh salads, tomatoes, beans and courgettes in the summer season.

Outside
The large swimming pool (12m x 6m) with diving board is on a terrace away from the house. There are plentiful sun loungers and garden furniture. The pool has an internal light for evening use. Table tennis by the pool. The terraces around the main house are also well equipped with outside seating and the large stone table is perfect for 'al fresco' dining amidst the profusion of roses, oleanders, hydraganeas and lemon trees.
Coast/Beach
Lake Trasimeno is a 20 minute drive with its man-made beaches, watersports and seafood restaurants. There are regular ferries to the Isola Maggiore, a quaint little island with lakeside restaurants, lace making and a 12th century church.
Golf
March 2008 - the beautiful golf course of Antognolla has reopened (30 minutes away). 18-hole course at Perugia-Ellera (35 minutes).
Travel
Nearest airports:
Perugia - Ryanair (40 mins) 3x weekly.
Bologna/Forli (90 mins) - Ryanair.
Ancona (2 hours) - Ryanair.
Other options:
Florence, Pisa, Bologna and Rome (all between 2 & 3 hours).
A car is essential and can be booked at the airport.
Distances
The village of Mercatale di Cortona is a 5 minute drive and Lisciano Niccone, just into Umbria is under 10 mins. For an easy daytrip to Florence or Rome, park your car at the railway station (30 mins) and take the express train.
The beautiful hilltown of Cortona (featured in Under the Tuscan Sun) is 20 minutes away.
Further details
Throughout Tuscany and Umbria there are numerous festivals: The Umbrian Jazz Festival in Perugia in July, Montepulciano opera, Cortona Music and Arts Festival in August, Preggio musical festival (July/August), plus all the local festas which take place during the summer and autumn. The famous opera festival in Verona is accessible by train.
Booking notes
A 50% deposit is required to secure the booking and the balance should be paid 8 weeks before the start of the holiday (plus a £250 refundable housekeeping/breakages deposit).
