Locally known as a Saracen Trullo, built as a defensive structure, recently converted. The walls are built of the famous local tufa stone and are up to 1.2 metres thick maintaining a constant temperature all year round. The house has everything, and more, that one expects from a trullo with the exception of the conical roof. The studio, a converted store has been finished to compliment the main house but has it's own unique and cosy feel. Whilst you will be staying in an 'antico casale' you will not be going without those creature comforts. A gas hob is enough to allow you to prepare the best of meals as you will be able to buy the most fantastic ingredients very cheaply in the local shops and extensive markets.

Notes on accommodation
The house and studio are very comfortable for both summer and winter stays.
The main house is ideal for families or couples and the studio will suit couples perfectly. The house and studio can be rented separately or together (a discount will be given in this instance). Both can be rented all year long, which we would urge you to consider.
Southern Italy can be extremely hot in summer, particularly in August (2007 being exceptionally high). Please be aware that the house has been restored sympathetically, to respect nature and befitting Puglian traditions, whilst we do provide modern comforts, electric fans are provided but not air conditioning. Puglian winters on the other hand, can be cold so the house is fitted with central heating and a cosy log fire.

Outside
In this part of Italy the outside areas are as important as the house. For this reason there is a beautiful sunken patio with ouside dining area adjacent to a large forno (pizza oven and barbecue), with a stone table which will seat up to 10 people. Overhanging the dining table is an enormous fig tree which produces the most amazing fruit all summer long. The 3 acre gardens also have olive, almond, cherry, peach, plums, quince, the list goes on!! You are welcome to pick any fruits which are in season. We also have a small vegetable garden, so hopefully you will be able to pick some to cook on your pizza. Buon'appetito!
The pool (4m x 4m x 1.3m) will provide much relief from the fantastic southern temperatures and the vast choice of local sandy beaches are only a short drive away. There is also an outdoor shower facility at the property for cooling down. There is no danger of becoming bored in the local area as there is so much to see and explore.

Coast/Beach
Distance to the nearest beach is 10km. There is an unlimited choice of sandy beaches and coves along the Brindisi coastline all of which have Blueflag status.
The nature reserve along the stretch of coast outside Ostuni is particularly ideal for cycling.
The beach of Pilone is perhaps the most attractive and by travelling a little further up the coastline you can visit the beach at Torre Canne which is more commercial with its selection of beachside bars but ideal for families.

Golf
If it's a golfing holiday you're looking for then Puglia has five major courses to offer. San Domenico is the closest, situated 10-15mins drive away from the property, between the small villages of Egnathia and Savelletri near Fasano. The course is located along the coast and has sea views from every aspect. The strong shaping of the otherwise flat agricultural landscape is given further appeal with its scattered local features, traditional stone walling and olive trees. The course benefitted from holding last years European Challenge Tour Grand Final. Barialto Golf is aprox 30-45 minutes drive and is renowned for its architecturally designed course winding through palm trees, olive groves and five lakes. It is an ideal course for all levels of players and a must for any golfer visiting Puglia. The Acaya Golf Course is located further south in the Lecce province and is aprox one hours drive and you can also find the Riva dei Tassali and Metaponto Golf courses along the coast of Taranto

Further details
The beautiful white town of Ostuni is only a short drive away allowing you to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside whilst having all that this vibrant town has to offer at your fingertips.
Heavily influenced by the Moors was constructed on a hillside overlooking the fertile olive valley with views out to the Adriatic Sea.
Lose yourself in the abundance of narrow whitewashed streets and discover numerous restaurants, bars and shops in the idyllic and unspoilt surroundings of the centro storico. English is spoken by few which adds to the charm of the town but does not prevent the locals greeting visitors with generosity and warm hospitality.
There is usually some kind of outdoor event taking place in the Piazza della Liberta which is even more lively come the months of July and August where you will undoubtedly experience some kind of festival.
The summers in Puglia are very hot, spring and autumn are beautiful with wild flowers abounding. The warm weather usually starts from April and runs through to October. As a result Puglia is the largest regional exporter of olives, olive oil, wine and tomatoes from Italy. Its landscape is also very diverse but the Brindisi region is particularly verdent. Referred to as the 'heel of Italy' it has been heavily influenced throughout time by such people as the Greeks, Moors and Normans and this is evident through its variant architecture and general culture.
There is no limit to the amount of activitles you can do in the Puglia region, whether you prefer two weeks soaking up the sun on the beach, indulging oneself in the tranquil surroundings of the Puglian countryside, dining out, shopping for the world famous Italian clothes and shoes or visiting some of the following local attractions:
Historic towns of Lecce, Alberobello (UNESCO site famous for its Trulli), Monopolli, Taranto, Martina Franca and many more:-
Zoo Safari and theme park
Gargano Peninsula
National Park
Itria Valley
