Peacefully located newly renovated properties situated in the midst of the hills in the green and mountainous Garfagnana region of Northern Tuscany around 1 hr north of Lucca. These well equipped apartments have independent entrances and eating out areas for privacy but are ideal for hiring together too. Both the properties and the pool area boast spectacular views and there is plenty of space for relaxing around this large site consisting of vineyard, olive trees and terraces. This location is pure peace, and for those lazy days when one wishes to spend the entire day on site, we can arrange for a local chef to come and cook for you.

Changeover day
Our preferred changeover day is Friday but we can be flexible out of season. Check in is after 4pm and departure prior to 10am.

Accommodation

Situated on the ground floor, Laura has an open plan living/kitchen/dining area. The kitchen is equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer. The living area has some comfy seating, sofa bed, English TV, CD player and DVD. Wireless internet access. Leading through to hallway with double bedroom on left and large shower room on right. Through a door (to create privacy for a larger family) there are a further 2 double bedrooms one of which can also be a twin, and a second large shower room.
Outside there is a beautiful loggia for eating alfresco (which will accommodate guests from both apartments if hired as a group), an outdoor wood burning oven, BBQ and garden area.

Daniele is situated on the first floor and is a really light and airy apartment.
Hallway leads on left to open plan living/kitchen area. Living area has open fireplace, English TV, DVD, CD player some comfy seating and sofa bed. Wireless internet access. Kitchen is equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, oven,grill, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave etc. From the hallway there is a large double bedroom and shower room. Through further door (creating privacy for larger families) there are a further 2 double bedrooms and a shower room. All bedrooms can be converted to twins. Each room is light and airy with wonderful views. Outside there is a walled private eating area perfect for alfresco dining.

 

Notes on accommodation
Both properties are centrally heated (payable locally).
Air conditioning not required here in the mountains - evenings are pleasantly cool for sleeping even in height of summer.
Grounds are vast and spacious.
The grounds do have slopes and steps various places, but all terraced areas are appropriately fenced.

Outside
The grounds span 3.5 hectares. Each apartment has its own eating area with garden furniture, umbrellas, Laura has a loggia large enough for groups hiring both apartments to eat and relax together. Both apartments also have their own BBQ.
The pool is shared by the two apartments and is 5m x 12m.
Our area is perfectly situated for catching the sun and the village above us is the last in the valley to lose sunlight in the evening....
We, the owners live on site, but in our own independent property. We have our own approach road, gardens and pool and we cannot see your house or pool from ours and vice versa. Full privacy respected but we are not far away if you need any help/advice! Guests are welcome to use our second pool if they so wish.

Coast/Beach
Driving distance to beach is around 1 hr 15 minutes.

Travel
Closest airport is around 90 mins away at Pisa. Many guests also travel from Genoa (2.5 hr) Bologna (2.5 hr) Milan (3.5hr)
Car hire is essential - we can help with this.

Distances
Whilst set in the hills, we are less than a 15 min drive from the market town of Castelnuovo with its bars, restaurants, train station and famous Thurs morning market. We are 20 minutes or so from the mediaeval town of Barga and only 1 hr north of the City of Lucca, which is a must in terms of a day trip! Pisa is 90 mins & Florence 1 hr 45 mins. The real beauty of the area however is in the hundreds of hilltop villages to visit, the endless opportunities for walking and picnicking & the scenery!

Further details
Our closest restaurant is around a 6 min drive and we can arrange taxis with the owner. Apart from that it is a 15 min drive into Castelnuovo or 20 mins to Barga for good selection of bars and restaurants. Both towns have banks, supermarkets shops etc. The closest village shop/bar is 1km down the hill.

Booking notes
We take a 15% deposit, with the remainder payable 8 weeks prior to departure.

About the owner
We are Fabrizio and Lorraine and fell in love with this fantastic unspoilt, green and mountainous area of Garfagnana many years ago due to the amazing views, the wonderful peace, and the real yesteryear and non touristy feel to the entire area. We achieved our dream of coming to live in this little piece of paradise with our two daughters, 7 years ago. We have been letting the Cottage Fosciandora for 7 years too, having renovated and improved it over the years, and have enjoyed seeing others fall in love with the area and return to us again and again. We live just up the hill to the holiday properties - we have our own road/entrance, gardens and pool, so you wont be disturbed at all, but we are on hand if you need anything!
