Coast/Beach
Gravedona has a wide sandy beach on the lake and a waterfront lido with two swimming pools (open on summer only). A lovely 3km waterfront promenade and cycling path runs south to the picturesque resort town of Dongo where motor/sailing boat rental can be arranged.
Golf
La Casa Sul Lario is within 15km (approx.20 min by car) of the famous Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Course (18 holes Par 70), which is the second oldest Golf Club in Italy and represents British tradition at its best. Its position on the hills provides splendid views of the Lake and surrounding mountains.
The Property is within 45km of Golf Club Valtellina (18 holes Par 71), set in a picturesque natural environment offering panoramic views of the Alps. The Course is located near Sentiero Valtellina, an over 20km sports itinerary for bikers, walkers and anglers along river Adda.
Skiing
Locals tend to go on a day-outing for skiing.
The closest major ski resort is Madesimo toward the Splugen Pass, which is approx. 45 minutes by car (45km); it offers 60 km of downhill ski slopes and 20 km of cross country ski trails.
Famous winter sport resorts such as St. Moritz in Switzerland or Bormio are within 90 mins car-distance.

Travel
We recommend flying into any of the Milan airports (circa 100km away): Malpensa and Linate with Easyjet, Alitalia and British Airways; Milan Bergamo with Ryanair. All are within one and a half hour drive.
The nearest railway station is Colico (15km) with direct trains to Milan city centre every 2 hours (90 minutes journey).
Distances
The house is at a walking distance from all amenities: bars, restaurants, pizzerias, supermarkets, local shops and banks.
Boats for Bellagio and other Lake Como towns leave from Gravedona Pier, which is 1 minute by foot from the property.

Gravedona Sport Centre is located at a walking distance from the house and includes 3 tennis courts (one indoor), 2 football pitches with with race-course an a well-known sailing centre/school.
Other activities along the northern end of the Lake include windsurfing, kite surfing, water skiing, wake boarding and jet-skying, canoeing and kayaking, chartered yacht hire, cycling hiking, parachuting and paragliding, horse riding, quad biking and golf.

About the owner
I grew up in Gravedona, but live in London with my wife Sandra. We both work, but spend most of our holidays between Lake Como and Rome, where we have our families and many friends.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We purchased the property in 2008 and it was in very bad conditions, although all the original 1600' features were well preserved. The restoration and rebuilding has been a labour of love over several years. With the intent to build the perfect holiday home for ourselves, every detail was given careful attention. Living abroad we don't have the chance to enjoy it as much as we would like so we want to share it with our guests. We guarantee that you will be impressed!
Unique benefits of the property
The property is set in a truly unique location in the center of Gravedona, the town with the longest lake-side promenade. The views from the property are breath-taking because the water is wider here than in many other parts and the mountains, although higher, are set back from the edge of the water. We come here to relax and escape from the hectic city life, eat healthy and genuine food, enjoy the enviable weather and outdoor activities.
