This attractive and carefully restored 19th century detached stone farm villa is located at the edge of a mountainside hamlet 4km from the small town of Piazza Al Serchio. The nearest large town is Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. From the house there are unobstructed panoramic views of the Apuane Alps and Serchio Valley. This is an ideal base for a peaceful holiday exploring this beautiful and dramatic region. For the more adventurous there is great hiking, climbing, mountain biking, horse trekking, canyoning, quad biking, motorcycle touring and caving. There are a number of national parks and protected areas nearby where a rich variety of flora and fauna can be found. As would be expected in Tuscany the local restaurants serve excellent food and wine. A few local ones are part of the Italian "Slow Food" movement.

Notes on accommodation
There is a very good outdoor swimming pool 5km away, near the train station in Piazza Al Serchio. It has a kiddies pool, a large pool, a snack bar along with tables and sun chairs. This is normally open from June to the end of August.
The villa is located at an altiture of 600m and has thick stone walls. This ensures that it never gets uncomfortably hot even during July and August.

Outside
There is a large south facing balcony directly outside the kitchen. There is another large east facing balcony upstairs. Each of these has a small table and two chairs. There is a front courtyard with a dining table, 4 chairs and a BBQ. There is a small south facing garden that is not overlooked. Safe car parking is very close to the house.
Travel
There is an excellent train service to Lucca, Pisa and Aulla from Piazza al Serchio. It takes less than 10 minutes to drive to the station from the house and there is plenty of parking. This is the best way to visit Pisa, Lucca, Florence and the Cinque Terra coast. You do not have to worry about navigation or finding a place to park your car.
If you are driving then Lucca by car is 1hr, Pisa 1.5hrs, Florence, Milan and Genoa 3.5hrs and the Mediterranean beaches 1.25 hrs.

The house is 4km away from the small town of Piazza Al Serchio and 13km away from Castlenuovo di Garfagnana.
Further details
In the nearby town of Piazza Al Serchio there is a train station, two petrol stations, taxi services, a few small bars, two restaurants, a few pizzerias, two supermarkets, two banks and a chemist. There is a local ambulance and doctor on 24 hour call and a regional hospital about 13km away in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana.
Booking notes
Prices are per week include hot water, electricity, linen, towels, cleaning. We can take UK or Ireland cheque payments in Pounds or Euros. We can take Credit Card Payment from anywhere in the world via Paypal but you need to add 4% to cover the processing fee charged by Paypal.
Deposit Payment of €150 to reserve up to 2 weeks. Then balance payment two months before arrival.
