Originally an 18th century olive oil farm fortified against Turkish invaders, the Masseria Mosca has now been tastefully converted into beautiful apartments. A perfect setting for couple or family holidays, the Masseria is ideally situated among tranquil Salento olive groves yet a stone’s throw from the Ionian sea. The original structure with its high domed ceilings and thick walls was preserved and beautiful polished Leccese stone floors laid throughout. Each apartment has been furnished to a very high standard with local antiques. The apartments have their own private entrance and private patio or terrace giving onto 2 hectares of gorgeous landscaped gardens with a striking blend of olive trees, fruit trees and giant prickly pear cacti. The atmosphere is magical. Complete with pool, the Masseria is a magnificent retreat and an ideal base for discovering the ancient landscape and fiery traditions of the wonderful Salento region of Puglia.

Further details
The Salento is a landscape of rich red earth, silver-green olive grees and turquoise sea situated right down in the 'heel of the boot' of Italy where the Adriatic meets the Ionian sea. Foreign tourism is still undeveloped. But the Italians love it for its unspoilt coastline and exotic folklore. It is home to the pizzica – intoxicatingly rhythmic music and dance that dates back to an ancient possession ritual for the tarantate, women bitten by a legendary spider! It is the Salento’s answer to carnival and is held at every village fiesta in the area.
For the kids there is the Aquasplash water fun park 5 mins away or hire a motorboat to visit the tiny deserted lighthouse island of Sant'Andrea.

Guest comments
This is an extremely interesting area, and Masseria Mosca provided a excellent base for exploring it; the garden and pool were especially superb.

The streets of Gallipoli and small towns Chiesanuova and Sannicola were fantastic. The beaches are amongst the best I have seen in Europe.
