The village of Giardinetto is 10km north of the pretty and historic spa town of Bagni di Lucca, with its thermal springs, swimming pool, tennis courts, riverside walks and shops, bars and restaurants. Set in the heavily forested Lima valley, overlooking the river, you can enjoy the clear, rushing waters whilst taking in the spectacular mountain scenery with peaks reaching over 1500m. There are waymarked/maintained paths (Alpine Club of Italy) near to the villa that lead into the mountains. The excellent ski resort of Abetone is a mere 22 kms away. Locally there is an abundance of mountain and riverside villages to explore, many with a friendly bar/pizzeria or restaurant at generally much lower prices than the large cities. There is a bar/pizzeria and grocery store a short walk from the house and a regionally acclaimed restaurant nearby. 'Day trip' possibilities are endless; including Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa, the Garfagnana region, the Mediterranean coast and Cinque Terre.

All rates includes gas for cooking and hot water, electricity and logs for the open fire. Complementary welcome basket of starter provisions included for 1 week bookings. Short breaks available - minimum stay 3 nights.

Outside
Guests have their own terraced garden with barbeque and patio furniture. The balcony also has a bistro table and chairs.
The garden has numerous trees including magnolia, cherry, hazlenut, sweet chestnut and figs - with larger spruce trees on the hillside behind. There is on site parking for at least 2 cars.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are located about 45kms from the house on a long stretch of coastline known as the Versilia. This area offers sandy flat beaches and safe bathing. There are several resorts available. The largest is Viareggio which holds a major Brazilian style carnival in February; whilst Forte di Marmi offers ‘designer’ shopping and a casino. Travelling north you reach the very scenic Bay of La Spezia and the 'famous' Cinque Terre region - an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Golf
There are over 20 golf courses to choose from in Tuscany, the nearest are at Montecatini Terme and in the Garfagnana - approximately 1 hour from the villetta.
Skiing
The second largest ski/snowboarding resort in Italy is a mere 22 kms away at Abetone. The resort extends over 4 beautiful valleys and has over 80kms of ski slopes. The town of Abetone is at an altitude of 1400 metres with ski slopes reaching 1900 metres. Outside of the skiing season this area is very popular with walkers/visitors enjoying the scenery and mountain air.

In our local spa town, Bagni di Lucca, there is a large outdoor swimming pool for summer use supplied with water from the local terme. In winter there is an indoor heated pool. Also in Bagni there is a tennis club, a biblioteque (library) with a famous collection of over 20,000 antiquarian English books; a selection of bars, restaurants, gelaterias and friendly small shops.
Local to Giardinetto, there is horse riding and fishing. The area caters for many sports varying from parascending to cycling and from surfing to skiing - if you have a particular interest and would like to know more, let us know.
