Our farmhouse apartment “Il Caminetto” is a lovely country style residence, situated within Majella national park. It is an ideal location for winter skiing and summer mountain holidays. The owners live upstairs but your ground floor apartment is totally independent. The house is surrounded by fantastic mountains. The main mountains visible from our house are Mount Majella (2145 metres a.s.l.), Mount Amaro (2795 metres a.s.l), Mount Gran Sasso D’Italia (2914 metres a.s.l.). The countryside is extremely beautiful with valleys, rock canyons, mountains streams, Chestnut, Beech, Oak, Fir and Pine woodlands. The air and the water here are beautifully clean. In the spring, in the summer, and the autumn it is possible to take a trip in to the national park, and go rock climbing, or enjoy excellent walking and cycling. In the winter there are facilities for many ski sport.

Coast/Beach
In the summer if you love sea, sand and coast, in just 35-40 mins from our farmhouse, you can reach Pescara on the Adriatic coast. Pescara has a very long coast line that extends for more than 15 km, perfectly equipped for the seaside holidays. The city has got about 150,000 inhabitants and it is the largest urban area in the region. Pescara is a modern town, its facilities include an outstanding railway, the airport and a large tourist marinas, considered one of the finest marinas in Italy.
Skiing
In the winter between November and April there is a variety of skiing available. Just half an hour from our residence (weather conditions permitting) you can reach the wide “snowy universe” of Majelletta. The Majelletta is the only European winter resort where, while you are skiing, you can look at the sea, enjoying an endless Panorama. There is a fast modern lift system.
At the resort centre there are facilities for many winter sports- ski schools, Nordic ski, freestyle, bobsleigh, sledge, snow cart, and skidoo trails. On the playground higher (1800 metres a.s.l.) there are intermediate difficulty trails, and at the top there are more difficult trails for competitions- an equipped snow park, huge cross-country, carving, snow fun snowfield, extreme sports, free rides, Nordic ski and mountain climbing ski. Skiers are completely free to choose different trails, suitable for their athletic skill, or to enjoy themselves exploring daring not traced paths.
Travel
The nearest airport is 30 mins (Pescara). Inexpensive flight are available to Pescara with “Ryanair” (London Stansted - Pescara takes just 2 hours and prices for return range between £20 and £80 per person, depending on the time of year booked). Our house is just two hours from Rome. Car hire is essential. There are no local hire companies. We recommend hiring at the airport in Pescara or Rome.
Distances
Pescara is just 35 mins from our cottage. Alternatively if you prefer historic cities you can visit Rome(2 hours by car or by train),Pompeii(3 hours)or L’Aquila(1 hour by car), a city set in the mountains known for its castles.
If you need to regenerate yourselves and improve your health, just 20 mins away is the thermal bath of 'Caramanico terme', located within Majella national park. Here you can find numerous treatments: respiratory, vascular, gynaecological and dermatological therapies.
Further details
Our house is situated 2000 ft above sea level, in a traditional Italian village. The village has a bar, a restaurant, a supermarket, a post office, a butcher, a cheese maker and several very cheap 'Agriturismo', namely, authentic farmhouse-restaurants cooking with food solely grown on the attached farms.

The nearest bank is just 10 minutes drive from our cottage.
The train station is 15 minutes by car. The nearest market is 1 minutes walk. As Abruzzo is in middle of Italy it allows you to reach different famous locations. For instance you can visit Pompeii and Herculaneum, 2 cities buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. From our farmhouse it takes 3 hours to get there.

Unique benefits of the property
You can enjoy clean and fresh air. You can drink fresh spring water even from the tab. We appreciate the green in the spring, the garden, the small holding with nice tomatoes in the summer. We take delight in walking through the Maiella National Park "being part of the Nature". We enjoy the big amount of snow that falls in the winter making a wonderful magic scenery. We love sitting near our fireplace and being entertained by the fire in the evening. A must for visitors.
