Apartment Thalna is a wonderful two bedroom apartment located just 15 kilometres from the stunning town of Orvieto in Umbria. Nestled in an estate of over 200 acres, with spectacular views over the Umbrian countryside, the property enjoys the use of a stunning infinity pool, wonderful gardens and an on site restaurant and bar. The apartment boasts two good sized double bedrooms and two bathrooms. The open plan living, dining and kitchen area is extremely spacious with three large doors leading out onto the gardens. There is a sofa bed in the living area allowing the property to sleep up to 6 guests. For those in larger groups, there is also a small hotel within the estate offering 15 additional bedrooms. Outside, the grounds are simply stunning. With well tended lawns, rose gardens and colourful flowerbeds, there is an atmosphere of peace and calm.

Notes on accommodation
This is a lovely property, furnished in a modern, contemporary style to a high standard.
Outside
Outside, the grounds are simply stunning. With well tended lawns, rose gardens and colourful flowerbeds, there is an atmosphere of peace and calm. The swimming pool is heated when required between May and October. With a system of sodium chloride electrolysis that avoids products containing chlorine, it offers guests a much healthier and more eco-friendly swim! Guests can enjoy bar service whilst lounging around the pool or relaxing in the grounds. The gardens also serve a more practical purpose though. The vineyards, orchards, olive trees, vegetables and livestock within the grounds all provide foor and drink for guests to enjoy in the restaurant. The restaurant and bar offer guests the chance to taste authentic, traditional, Italian cuisine at its best. The atmosphere is superb and the food is absolutely delicious! The perfect setting to enjoy a wonderful holiday in rural Umbria...
Coast/Beach
The coast is between 90 and 150 minutes away if you want to spend a day on the beach. One of the best towns on the coast, Viareggio, which is also Tuscany's biggest seaside resort, is about a 2.5 hour drive. Viareggio has an air of elegance afforded by the long avenue of palms that run the length of its promenade and is worth a visit. The Maremma coastline further south is half the distance away than Viaraggio but will take just as long to reach but does have some beautiful beaches.
Golf
There are three very good courses within a 50 km radius of the property. This includes a 9 hole course - the Golf Club Lamborghini in Panicale - as well as two 18 hole courses, one in Perugia and one in Saturnia. Apart from the standard 9 holes, the Lamborghini course also boasts a large driving range with lighted putting and pitching greens.

We can arrange a number of additional services for guests such as trips to local vineyards for wine tasting or a tour of local olive groves. Cookery courses can also be arranged. Travel
The nearest airports to the property are in Perugia or Rome. The transfer time from Perugia airport is just over an hour, whilst it's an hour from Rome. The other option is to fly to Pisa - transfer time is longer at 2.5 hours but there are plenty of nice places to stop en route!
Distances
The property is located about 20 minutes drive from the main piazza in the centre of Orvieto which is a beautiful town. Orvieto has held a unique fascination amoung tourists for years. You're bound to visit it plenty of times during your stay!
Further details
Besides the nearby town of Orvieto, there are plenty of other places to visit and numerous things to see and do. Foligno is 90 minutes away. Every year since 1946 the city of Foligno has held the Joust of the Quintana, reliving the atmosphere of a horse tournament first held during the carnival of 1613. There are 3 annual joust events - the Baroque Carnival, the June Challenge and the September Rematch. On each occasion, 10 horsemen, each representing one of the cities wards, face off in a ring joust. Participants are dressed in costumes from the 1600s, creating a colourful and evocative atmosphere. It's a wonderful event. Perugia, the regions largest art city, is just over an hours drive away. The magical city of Assisi is 90 minutes by car whilst Gubbio, where you feel like you literally have stepped back in time, is 90 minutes from the property. Todi is an hour away as are the shores of Lake Trasimeno where you can enjoy some lazy days in the sunshine at one of the lakeside beaches or hop on board one of the boats taking you to the islands within the lake. Even those less well known towns and villages in Umbria hold some wonderful surprises whether it's a church, a palace, musuem or fresco... It's a great area to explore. Some of the best cities in Tuscany are also accessible from the property - Arezzo is 70 minutes whilst Siena is approximately 90 minutes by car. You certainly won't be stuck for things to do during your stay!

I am a mother with 2 young children, age 5 & 8 and a very busy husband! I gave up work with Procter and Gamble 5 years ago to spend time at home with the children. I have loved being able to spend so much time with them. However, with both children now at school, I was keen to start working again. Over the past few years, I have enjoyed managing two of my own holiday properties in the Italian Lakes which we bought in 2008 and 2009 following our first visit to the area in 2007. As a result, I have now started to manage holiday homes for others, not just in the Italian Lakes, but elsewhere in Italy and Europe.
