Restoration has been artistically and sympathetically carried out using local craftsmen, forging old design with new. Features include a barrelled ceiling, a pizza oven; all rooms have stone floors and beamed ceilings. Close to the border with Tuscany, IL Monte is ideally positioned for visits to the region. Closer to home the towns of Gubbio, Citta di Castello, Montone, Assisi are all within easy reach. The seaside town of Fano, Le Marche region is less than 1 hour away. The old town of Pietralunga, famous for Truffles and potatoes! retains its Medieval features and a yearly Palio is held in August. There are several bars, Pizzerie, Banks etc. Il Monte is the perfect base for exploring art, culture, and nature; or just relaxing by the pool and watching the sun goes down. In addition, Maria will happily provide a delicious meal whenever you'd like it: Torta di Maria is a must! If you are arriving late, she'll leave something roasting slowly in the oven, table set, wine opened...

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. Short breaks considered in off peak season. NB. Ryan Air flights to Perugia fom Stanstead Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun - Please contact owner for discounts relating to lets beyond 2 weeks. Late availability discounts May, June, September, October contact owner.
Changeover day
Arrival should not be before 4pm and no later than 10pm if possible. The house should be vacated by 10am on the day of departure.

Notes on accommodation
Il Monte has underfloor heating at ground level and central heating throughout the rest of the property.
It is completely private with ample play space for children and "get away" space for adults!
Small groups of 4-6 people may rent the ground + 1st floor ony in May/June Sep/Oct.

Outside
The garden is made up of 3 hectares of meadow and woodland. Outside the kitchen is a covered Loggia with wooden dining table and chairs for dining alfresco. There is also a BBQ. The gallery on the first floor has a large sun patio with chairs and the 12x6m pool has loungers, chairs and umbrella for guests comfort. There is a selection of inflatables for children. The pool is cleaned and maintained twice a week.
For those with a bit more energy, it is possible to explore the surrounding countryside directly form the house - from the rear of the house follow the path down to the waterfall - or take a steep climb up and discover a route of other walk ways.
Coast/Beach
Less than an hours drive to the seaside town of Fano, Le Marche region, and wonderful seafood dining.

Bologna Forli approx 1½ hour. Bologna Central approx 1hour 45 mins. Ancona approx 1½ hour. Florence approx 1 hour 45 mins. Rome approx 2½ hours. Ryan Air flights to Perugia from Dec 2006 (45 mins). A car is essential.
Distances
Driving distances: 2km Pietralunga. 20 mins to Gubbio. Citta Di Castello, Montone. 30 mins Assisi. 40 mins Perugia and San Sepolchro and Cortona. 25 mins Citerna 1 hour 45 mins to Florence. 2 45 mins to Rome. You can also travel by train from Citta di Castello, to most places, leaving the car there for your return journey.

A small Agricultural town, Pietralunga has all you may require in terms of local supermarket, bars, banks, Pizzeria, (the best and possibly cheapest in the world)!Chemist, butcher and Breadshops. The tourist office in the Piazza has information about all the regions. Up market eating at Montone and Gubbio.All day supermarkets at Citta, Umbertide and Gubbio.
Booking notes
A 50% booking charge is required when booking. The remainder to be paid, with a £200 refundable breakage/good house keeping deposit, 6 weeks prior to departure.
