The flat is situated on the 4th floor of an old, typically Florentine building (there is no lift) on a narrow street just off chic Via Tornabuoni and a block north of the river. It is an ideal size for 2 people, but possible for 3/4. The position could not be more central; the 'centro storico' of Florence is tiny and most of the principal sights and galleries are within easy walking distance. The flat is within a traffic-limited zone, so it is reasonably quiet. The view is of rooftops with the odd roof garden, and there is plenty of natural light.

Notes on prices
Prices for the property are per week and in euros.
Rates for stays less than a week are available on request. The above rates include all utilities apart from central heating and air-conditioning. This will be calculated according to the meter where relevant. There is a 30 euro final cleaning charge. For rentals of more than 2 weeks there will be a reduction on the weekly rate.

Bedrooms: The bedroom can be made up as a double or a twin; it is a sunny, cheerful room with plenty of hanging and storage space for clothes.
Bathrooms: Bathroom with shower, wc, bidet and basin.
Kitchen: Kitchen (which you walk into when you enter the flat) with washing machine, small oven/grill, fridge with freezer compartment, gas hob, toaster, plenty of cooking equipment and there is space for 2 people to eat.
Living Rooms: Living room with a good quality double sofa bed, table and chairs for eating, TV, DVD, CD player and radio, bookshelves.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Bedlinen is supplied, but not towels. There are both summer and winter weight duvets and feather pillows. If you require a cleaner during your stay, this can be arranged.

 

Notes on accommodation
We have just re-decorated the apartment in cheerful colours (May 2008) and put in a new sofa bed. We have also installed air-conditioning (extra charge). Small pets are allowed. We can stock the flat with basic supplies (bread, milk, water, tea, coffee, etc.) for your arrival.
We have also recently installed Wi-Fi internet access and this is available to guests free of charge.

Travel
Pisa airport is an hours' train journey from Florence. Florence's Peretola airport is a 25 minute taxi ride, or there is an airport bus which goes to the train station. Cars are a liability in central Florence and parking is extremely hard to find. A car is not necessary to get around this small city and the bus service is efficient. However, there is a private garage about 10 minutes walk from the flat. Most of the car hire companies have their offices within a 10 minute walk.

Distances
Lucca, Pisa, Arezzo and Siena are all within an hour's car journey of Florence, and all are served well by public transport; the train and bus stations are 10 mins walk from the flat. Within 30 mins drive of the flat you can reach the heart of Chianti wine growing country.

Further details
The flat's very central position means that there are banks, food shops, a post office, restaurants and bars close by as well as bus stops for other parts of the city. The train station is a 10 minute walk. Just across the river is the 'Oltrarno' district, Florence's Bohemian 'Left Bank'. The central food market, a must for foodies, is a short walk away. Shopping within the area ranges from the designer stores on Via Tornabuoni, and cheap and cheerful clothes and leather goods in the central market.

Lucca, Pisa, Arezzo, Siena, Bologna and beaches are all within an hours' train or bus journey from Florence, and train and bus stations are also with a 10 minute walk. There is a restaurant to suit every taste nearby from family trattorias to smart, gourmet places. The owner writes guide books to Florence and Tuscany and her personal recommendations are in the flat.

There is air-conditioning for the hot summer months, but this is charged extra. We also supply fans.

Booking notes
A non-returnable deposit of 200 euros per week of your stay is payable on booking. This is part of the rent and the balance is payable when you are in Florence.

Guest comments
This is the apartment for you if you want to be close to the center of Florence. Located very close to the Arno River and only a few blocks to the Ponte Vecchio... close to all the major points of interest in Florence... no need for a car here because you can easily walk to all the major sights. The apartment is clean and comfortable for two adults. The owner was very helpful and responsive to our needs. Everything that was listed in the description for the apartment was as described. The only possible drawback is the lack of a lift and, therefore, the number of steps one needs to climb to get to the apartment.
