La Cupolina is a beautiful restored mill dating from the 15th Century and is located in the small town of "Gattaia", near the well-known holiday town "Vicchio del Mugello", in the countryside of Florence (Vicchio is the birthplace of the famous painters Giotto and Beato Angelico). Gattaia is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday in the country, and is located near the river Muccione (which invites you to bathing and resting). The Estate La Cupolina consists of two principal levels and was divided with respect for its originality in two very spacious, sunny and quiet holiday apartments. The apartments are furnished with antique furniture from the Tuscan tradition. From the private garden of the house you can go to the nearby river, which has natural waterfalls and an inviting natural swimming pool.

Spacious and independent holiday apartment, suitable for 6 people. Total 110 square metres of living space, including about 40 sq.m of external private terrace. It has a spacious living room/kitchen. The kitchen area and private patio give direct access to the three large bedrooms upstairs. Each room has a double bed and its own private bathroom. The holiday apartment "Il Mulino" has two private outdoor areas: On one side of the house you can find the well-equipped large outdoor patio. On the other side of the house you can enjoy the private outdoor terrace, in an elevated position overlooking the village. Both the patio and the terrace are equipped with tables, chairs, deckchairs and umbrella and are easily accessible. In the outdoor you will also find an area for common use, a spacious garden and a barbecue area. Walking along the lane near the house you can easily reach the nearby tranquil river with natural pools for swimming and wide space for relaxing. Private parking. |

How to reach the center of Florence (Firenze), starting from the holiday home “Cupolina” in the little town of Gattaia (by train or by car):
We recommend that you use the comfortable local trains: You reach the nearby village of Vicchio by car (in about 10 minutes). There you will find a comfortable free parking near the railway station, where you may park for the whole day. Take the local commuter train, which takes you in about 60 minutes to the center of Florence.
Travel
La Cupolina, situated in the small town of “Gattaia”, is easily reached by car from Florence. Gattaia is located about 35km from Florence airport. Take the A1 motorway towards Bologna, after about 18km take the exit "Barberino del Mugello". Follow the directions for "Borgo San Lorenzo” (10km), then drive on to " Vicchio "(7km), and then turn left to "Gattaia”.
Distances
In Gattaia, at the countryhouse /agriturismo "Il Ponte", you can buy meat and sausages. The nearest food-store is located in the nearby village of Caselle, where you can buy all the daily food requirements.
In the nearby town of Vicchio there are various supermarkets.
We encourage you to dine in Vicchio, in the restaurant "Da Giotto", in Piazza Giotto (at Giotto square).

The tour begins in the town "Scarperia", which houses the “Palazzo dei Vicari”, with the museum “Museo dei Ferri Taglienti”. In the nearby street “Via Solferino” you can find the “antica Bottega del Coltellinaio” (old cutler's workshop) .
From the own of “Scarperia” continue to “Sant'Agata” where you can see the beautiful “Pieve Romanica”, the most important religious building in the Mugello region.

After the described day trip in the following days you can visit the municipalities of ”Borgo San Lorenzo” and “Vaglia”.
In “Borgo San Lorenzo” you can visit the “Pieve di San Lorenzo” and the museum “Museo della Manifattura Chini”, in the restaured “Villa Pecori Giraldi”.
If you are looking for a natural environment and clean air, you can visit the surroundings of the “Museo della Civilta Contadina di Casa d’Erci”.
From “Borgo San Lorenzo” take the “Faentina” road towards Florence, and after having reached the “Passo di Vetta Le Croci”, take the road to the right which leads to the “Convento di Montesenario”, which dominates the whole Mugello valley. The original church was built by the “Padri Servi di Maria” in 1241. Nearby you find the park and the Villa “Parco e Villa Demidoff”.
The abbey “Abbazia di Vallombrosa” and “Pieve di San Pietro a Gropina”.
The “'Abbazia di Vallombrosa” is located in a beautiful forest, created and cared for by the monks over the centuries until it was declared in 1973 " Biogenetic Nature Reserve”.

My name is Cinzia and I live in Florence , in a family which has devoted his life to a farm which produces red wine from the Florentine hills, olive oil, fruits and vegetables , which are sold to our clients and offered to the guests of our Agriturismo in Florence and La Cupolina in the Mugello Region. La Cupolina is a beautiful structure of 4 levels, which was a mill, all in stone in old times. It was restored, taking care to maintain its originality and to recover wood ceilings and terracotta floors of the traditional Tuscan countryside. We wanted to recreate an idyllic corner of the past with the comfort of the present in order to accommodate and satisfy customers from all over the world, who want to spend a relaxing holiday near numerous places of interest of Tuscany.
