Our house is in the first hills behind Forte dei Marmi. It is an old farmhouse which we recently rebuilt. It is a nice mix of rustic and clean modern. Surrounded by olive trees with a view across a beautiful valley, the hillsides are covered by terraced vineyards and olive groves. The morning birdsong is fantastic. Pietrasanta is filled with sculpture studios and art galleries. There are many good restaurants, and a nice piazza where one can sit outdoors past midnight. There are events and festivals all through the summer. The beach is 15 mins away at Forte dei Marmi, which features all the top designer shops, (Prada, Gucci, etc.) and a large high quality weekly market. From here you can visit many of Italy’s cultural centers. Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Volterra and Cinque Terre are all easy day trips. Into the nearby mountains of the Alpi Apuani one can hike all day, visit an underground grotto, or stop for lunch at one of the many mountain inns (rifugio), open to the public.

Outside
Spacious terrace outside of kitchen with stone paving. Gas BBQ, large and small tables, and lounge chairs. Olive trees and 2 enormous lemon trees shade the terrace.
Coast/Beach
15 mins drive to beach at Forte dei Marmi, where one can hire beach cabins, umbrellas, and chairs. 5 mins north of Forte dei Marmi is the free beach at Cinquale.
Golf
12 mins to Versilia golf club, 18 holes, opened 1990. Clubhouse, restaurant, pool, pro shop and driving range.

Travel
Pisa Airport is 30-40 minutes distant and i, served by Ryanair from Birmingham, Bournemouth, Dublin, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and London Stansted. Easyjet flies from Bristol, Gatwick and Luton. British Airways from Gatwick. Alitalia flies from Aberdeen, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Humberside, Leeds, Gatwick, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Southampton and Teeside. Hire cars are available at airport. Local train service at Forte dei Marmi station.
Distances
From here you can visit many of Italy’s cultural centers. Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Volterra and Cinque Terre are all easy day trips. Into the nearby mountains of the Alpi Apuani one can hike all day, or stop for lunch at one of the many mountain inns (rifugio), open to the public. The marble quarries in nearby Carrara make an exciting day trip. Delightful seaside village of Lerici is 30 minutes drive.

Plenty of shops, markets, great restaurants. We will leave a list and descriptions of our favorite restaurants, including phone numbers. Private parking for 3 cars is below the house, which has a lighted stairway 50 steps up to the house. The house is near the end of half a mile of narrow country road, which is a bit steep in parts.
Booking notes
A deposit of one third of the rental is requested to hold your booking. The balance is due not less than 8 weeks before the start of the rental.
Cleaning fee of 50 Euro.
