Notes on accommodation
This home from home holiday apartment is part of a converted large "Palazzo" (palace) and is ideal for couples and older children as a holiday retreat throughout the long Italian hot summers or for out of season breaks. Whether its fishing from the harbour you desire or lazing on a white sand beach then cooling yourself or snorkelling in the clear blue waters of the the Tyrrhenian Sea this is for you! The slow pace of life in this part of Italy soon becomes apparent as you get absorbed into endless sun filled days and clear velvet starry nights. Or for the more adventurous by day the apartment is ideally based for travelling around the region including visits to mountain villages, the two National Parks that offer outdoor pursuits and the many churches and cultural and heritage sites in the area. The town comes alive with its many festivals with street markets, food tasting and specialities of the region along with music and dancing, the climax being the amazing firework displays.
Accessibility
Access to this first floor apartment is by a number of steps therefore is unsuitable for people with mobility problems. Climbing up and down steps is a must to discover the hidden delights of the medieval town.
Outside
The apartment nestles in Pizzo's medieval old town that is a maze of interconnecting alleys and ancient houses built up the hillside. Balcony overlooking Pizzo town with fantastic sea views.
Coast/Beach
Pizzo has several beautiful beaches. The nearest ones are within 10 minutes walking distance of the apartment. The central beach has showers, a promenade, and many cafes and restaurants. As Pizzo is on a long sandy coastline, there are many more beaches to visit, by car, bus or train.
Golf
There is a 9 hole golf course Fuedo de Montaldo a 30 minute drive from the apartment.
Skiing
Sila has its own ski resort and is probably the most accessible of all the national parks, its well worth a visit to view the beautiful lakes and hilltop villages. In winter months you can see the snow capped mountains from the beaches below.

Travel
Fly with Ryanair from Stansted to Lamezia Terme Pizzo has an excellent train and road network, with its proximity to the motorway, this makes it the perfect place to explore the nearby towns such as Tropea, Vibo Valentia and Reggio Calabria, with it’s Greco Roman museum. Lamezia airport, with direct flights from Stansted, is 25 minutes drive. Naples airport is approx 3 hours, Rome approx 5 hours and Catania, Sicily, approx 1 hour. Car rental is recommended if you wish to explore the area.
Distances
Pizzo has everything for your holiday. Vibo Marina is just 5km. Tropea, 20km. Lamezia Terme 22km. Scilla 45km. Port to Sicily, with the short 20 minute crossing every 15 minutes, 50km. There are boat trips from Pizzo to the volcanic islands, including to the active volcano of Stromboli , regularly during the summer months.

The centro storico is the heart of Pizzo, and you will be living closely with local people in an area full of characteristic local colour. Pizzo has a classic southern Mediterranean climate, enjoying warm weather from April to October. The summers are hot and dry with clear blue skies and brilliant sunshine.

therefore it is advisable to take out travel insurance to cover your requirements). A refundable 200 euros is required to be paid on collection of keys from local agent to cover lost keys/damage.

Hi we are Linda and Ray. We live in England and have 2 grown up daughters. We have always liked our holidays abroad and have stayed in loads of self catering apartments. We have taken short breaks in Venice, Rome and Sorrento and through these trips we got the Italian bug! So when we had the opportunity to buy in Pizzo, a fantastic place to experience Southern Italy, we took the plunge. We would like to share this little piece of heaven with you. We like walking, birdwatching and photography and find the area great for exploring and relaxing.
