A typical 17th century completely renovated country home in Monferrato, that creates a tiny rural hamlet. Monferrato, land of many of Italy's-and the world's- finest wines including Barolo, Gavi, Dolcetto, Barbera and Moscato. Wine tours to farms and Castles can begin within 5 minutes from Casa Carlotta, where you can also enjoy one of Italy's most renowned grappa manufacturers, Grappa Barile. The house, located on a quiet hilltop, has all round wonderful views from the vineyards to the highest Italian’s Alpes. Surrounded by green gardens with trees, plants and flowers, Casa Carlotta is a dream place to enjoy the simple pleasures of being close to nature, eating and drinking well and chilling out with your friends and family. The main house (7 pax) has an independent suite ( for other 2/3 pax, ground floor of the barn) at a few mt. distance. The guests can use the 4 bicycles of the owners. Attractions: castles, golf, horse riding, truffle hunting, antiquarian's tours.

Notes on accommodation
Pets are welcome! But if you are bringing one or more dogs, please just advise us when you book. Baby sitting or dog sitting services can be arranged.
The guests will be allowed to smoke carefully inside and outside the property.
The house is not air-conditioned because of its very thick walls keep the whole house cool during the summer months; in case of extreme conditions, portable fans can be supplied at no additional cost. The ground floor has wrought-iron gratings at all windows and kitchen door. All the rooms' windows have mosquito nets. Heating in not included: 5€ m3 main house by meter reading, 50€ p/w independent suite (if used). We will always try to accommodate any special requests you may have.
Accessibility
The main house has a stair which take to the bedrooms; but the independent suite (about 60 mq) in front of the main house (ground floor of the “barn”) has only 2 steps.
Outside
The Portico and the Veranda are fully furnished as dining areas for 'alfresco' dining. Next to the swimming pool (from 140 to 200 cm depth), with a beige liner to reflect the light blue colour of the sky, there are 2 beds and 4 deck chairs and parasol for those who are shade-loving. Other sitting areas under the portico and in the garden. Around the house there are green grass gardens with trees, plants and flowers, where you can chill out and rest.
Many walks (by foot, bicycle or car) directly from the house to natural sites - lakes, pinewoods, little churches and castles.
One of the driveway to Casa Carlotta ends with 600 meter of unpaved country road passing by the villa and vineyards of a famous Italian actress. Free big uncovered parking.
Coast/Beach
In an hour, you can lie on the sunny shores of the Italian Riviera. Ponente and Levante Rivieras at 50 minutes driving. The Tuscany’s coasts and beautiful beaches are two hours driving distance. The famous Cote d’Azur where are situated Cannes, Nice and Saint Tropez are reachable in less than 3 hours driving.
Golf
The nearest Golf club Villa Carolina in Capriata D’Orba is at 15 minutes driving distance (12Km);
The Colline del Gavi Golf club is located in Tassarolo (Al) at 20 minutes driving distance (17Km);
the Circolo Golf & tennis Rapallo is at 1 hour and 10 minutes driving distance (80Km);
The Golf Club Garlenda is at 1 hour and 20 minutes driving distance (110Km).
Skiing
2.20 hours to Sauze d'Oulx and Courmayeur. 2.50 hours Chamonix.
Travel
Airports: Genoa (46 min/51Km), Turin (1 hour and 45 min/162Km), Milan Linate (1 hour and 25min/132Km), Milan Malpensa (1 hour and 45min/165Km), Bergamo Orio al Serio (2 hours/185Km), Pisa (2 hours and 40min/225Km). The nearest railway station is in Ovada (17min/9Km), Novi Ligure (30 min/25Km).

We look forward to introducing you to privately owned castles wineries, many are not generally open to the public. Week end dinners may be request when booking. We can arrange for you: dinners at the Castle with the Marquis, the Castle’s owner; horse riding at a neighboring farm and truffle hunting (depending on the season); we can provide you guided tours on request
Supermarkets, shops, banks, restaurants can all be found within a 10 minute drive. For those that like shopping you can reach in 35 minutes driving Serravalle Designer Outlet, a huge shopping centre where you can find the most famous high fashion brands (Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Cavalli, Versace and many others), hypermarkets where you can buy every kind of things. Thermal baths and spas in Acqui terme. Antiques Markets: Ovada every first Sunday of each month, Novi Ligure and Acqui Terme every fourth Sunday on each month.

About the owner
Looking for ancient farmhouses to restore and sell, my husband and I we run up into Casa Carlotta. It is a magic place, with sunsets not to be missed, that we immediately decided to keep as our country home. A peaceful and relaxing place where you never get bored: walks, horse riding, cycling, truffles hunting, tastings of excellent wines and cheeses of local production. Casa Carlotta is an ideal place where you can chill out and rest, in summer/spring surrounded by flowered gardens and in autumn /winter in front of a wood burning stove.This is the perfect place where everyone wish to take refuge in and we come here for many holidays in all the seasons.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We came in the "Alto Monferrato" from the Liguria Region, pushed by our love for horses. This was a fantastic place to train our horses for international competitions. In this countryside is possible to ride for kms without find a paved road. Just hills, rivers, and valleys where is very easy to find fallow deers and pheasants crossing slowly the street without running away. We love to come to this paradise, surrounded by the nature and with lovely neighbours, loving to care for flowers -in particular roses- and to cultivate the kitchen garden - (so we can easily enjoy fresh vegetables).
Unique benefits of the property
Casa Carlotta is a peaceful and comfortable place, but, if you like, in 15 minutes you can reach the crowd of the town, in nearly half an hour the Ligurian Riviera or in one hour the most famous Italian shopping town, Milan.
We have a reserved part of the property (in the upper floors of the Barn) and when we are here we can more easily help our guests in theirs requests. The position of the entrances and of the gardens of the two properties allows a complete privacy.
