Casa Pluviano is a converted farmhouse which nestles halfway down a valley in a secluded position with superb views of Lake Penne and the mountain of La Maiella. To the left stands the historic town of Penne which sits atop 4 hills. The first floor has been completely renovated with central heating and full kitchen and bathroom facilities. There are two patios one of which is accessed directly from the kitchen, the other is at the entrance to the house. The farmhouse sits at the end of a private drive set in 3 acres of land in which stand over 100 olive trees. The house is ideal for couples looking for a quiet and restful break who want to explore this beautiful and unspoilt region. Despite the secluded position the house is not isolated, the town of Penne is only a 5 minute drive away with the Gran Sasso National Park less than 15 minutes away and the beech and airport 40 minutes away.

There is no fixed changeover day but we would ask that guests should depart from the house by 11.00am and arrive after 2.00pm.

The first floor has been fully refurbished.

Accessibility
Accessibility by car is straightforward at any time of the year except deep in winter due to a reasonably steep driveway. All of the living accommodation is located on the first floor which is accessed via steps. This property may prove difficult for those with mobility problems.

Outside
The property has a terrace at both the ground and first floor whilst the rest of the outside space is grassed with an abundance of olive trees.

Coast/Beach
The coastline of Abruzzo has 133 km of golden sandy beech; the best of which are located at Pineto and Silvi Marina which are to the north of Montesilvano and approximately a 30 minute drive from the house.

Golf
The nearest golf course is located on the coast at Silvi Marina at the Miglianico Golf Country Club a 40 minute drive from the house.

Skiing
There are 21 ski resorts in Abruzzo with the nearest located on the Campo Imperatore approximately 30 minutes drive away. Most routes are red or blue with a limited number of black runs as well. For full details please look at www.abruzzoturismo.it

Special interest holidays
For the more active tourist there are a number of attractions to explore. With 30% of the region as dedicated National Park a large amount of this revolves around the exploration of the mountains and enjoyment of the scenery. Amongst this there are a number of beautiful villages such as Santo Stefano di Sessano and a number of castles and the pottery museums of the nearby town of Castelli.

Travel
The nearest airport is located at Pescara which is 40 km from the house and can be driven in circa 45 minutes. Ryanair provides a regular service throughout the year and their travel partner, Hertz, provides competitive rates for car hire.

In Penne there are 3 supermarkets, a pharmacy, banks, a post office and several good quality restaurants and bars.

Booking notes
A 30% deposit is payable on booking with the remainder due 7 days prior to the start date for the holiday. Those bookings made within 30 days of departure must pay in full. A deposit of £100 is required for any damage to the house or its contents and is payable on booking but will be returned within 5 days of the holiday finishing.

About the owner
We are a couple who live in England but fell in love with Abruzzo over 7 years ago. We holiday at the house whenever we can and still find a lot of new places to explore. To us the area has everything that we could want, the beach, the mountains, and as a keen cyclist I have the challenge of the Gran Sasso right on the doorstep!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We chose this house because of the views and the tranquility. We live in the city in the UK but wanted somewhere peaceful to escape to, this house was perfect for that. Despite the tranquility it is still accessible to the local town and the airport so living in the area is never a chore.

Unique benefits of the property
Feeling away from it all but not isolated. As a base to explore the region it is perfect and our holidays are as active or restful as we want to make them.
