Palazzo Piacentini is located in Barga Vecchia, the Palazzo dates back to the 1600's and stands on a corner of via della Mura opposite Palazzo Bertacchi which has its entrance on the wing of the East Wall of the Old City. The Penthouse apartment is on the 2nd floor (top) of the Palazzo, the apartment offers the most spectacular 360 degree views over the whole of Barga and the Serchio River Valley, the apartment is the highest point in Barga apart from the Duomo. Located near the Serchio river valley and is surrounded by the Tuscan-Emilian Alps, nearest towns are Garfagnana to the north and Bagni di Lucca to the south. Lucca is a 30 minute drive from Barga and is a fine renaissance City encircled by a 4.2km wall, plenty of opportunities for culture shopping and sightseeing. The Versillian coast, 20 minutes drive from Lucca, includes the seaside towns of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi as well as Carrara famous the world over as the centre of fine marble.

Coast/Beach
The beaches of Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio are only an hour drive away.
Skiing
The Abetone Ski resort is an hour drive from Barga and offers many fine ski runs.
Special interest holidays
In July and August Barga hosts an Opera festival in the 17th century Opera House there is also a Jazz festival held in and around Piazza Angelio. Opera lovers are only an hour drive from Torre Del Largo Puccini where every August Puccini Operas are held in the new Open air Opera House on the lake. Puccini's house and museum are on the same site adjacent to the lake. Torre del Largo is very close to to Viareggio.
Travel
The nearest airport is Pisa, an hour drive from Barga, and is well served with flights from BA from Gatwick as well as Ryanair from Stansted/Newcastle or Glasgow. There is a train station at the airport where trains to Fornace di Barga via a change at Lucca may be taken. There is a very good bus service to Baga from Luca, with the bus stopping outside the main gates to the 'Old City'.
Distances
Garfagnana is 20 minutes drive to the north of Barga with Bagni di Lucca 15 minutes to the south. Lucca is 30 mins away by car with Pistoia (centre of flower growing in Italy) and Florence about an hour drive from Barga.
