Velarca, the houseboat floating on Lake Como in front of Ossuccio and the island Comacina, it was a project of the architects Lodovico Belgiojioso, Enrico Peressutti, Ernesto Rogers in the 60’s. The name was chosen because it sounded like “Velasca”- the Velasca Tower in Milan another project had been completed not long before by the three architects. The living accommodation below deck comprises a living-dining saloon, two main cabins each with a pair of bunk beds, a two-berth cabin, a kitchen, three bathrooms, a closet with spare bed and lastly two more berths in the stern, where there is even a small study with a rolltop writing-desk. With also careful attention it has been planning the cordage along the gunwales and the “rigging” supporting the canvas awning covering most of the deck, one of the houseboat’s most essential features. The catwalk leading to the garden with flowers, vegetables, climbing plants, olive trees and equipement for alfresco meals.
