Casa Pavone is a detached 4 bedroom house with 0.75 acre of garden, 800m from Serrone village centre on a private road with 3 similar properties. The village is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the south facing slopes of Monte Scalambra only 40 miles from Rome. Vineyards flourish on the lower slopes producing grapes for the excellent Cesanese del Piglio wine. The glorious elevated position of this property makes it a much sought after holiday destination. Serrone has several good shops, bars and restaurants and is a pleasant, gentle downhill walk from the house through olive groves. There are many towns to explore nearby including Anagni, Fuiggi spa town, Tivoli and Palestrina.

Living Rooms: Level 2: Main entrance directly to spacious lounge, wood burner, French doors to large terrace (sun all day) and garden. 42" TV, Satellite, DVD home theatre, CD, Tuner and Hi-fi.

Notes on accommodation
The house is equipped with full central heating and a large wood burner in the main lounge. Table tennis and a small collection of DVD/CDs, books and games are provided. Sorry, no pets.

Accessibility
Because of the spiral stairs and garden steps, this property is not suitable for very young children or those with restricted mobility.

Outside
The large terrace faces southwards with breathtaking views across the valley to the hill towns of Paliano and Anagni. The garden has several shady lawned terraces, one which incorporates a large wood pizza oven and barbecue. A small orchard produces olives, walnuts, figs, cherries, apples and pears. Garden and patio furniture is provided.

Coast/Beach
The nearest coast is approximately an hour drive away and the fashionable Tyrrhenian coastal resorts and beaches of Lido di Ostia, Terracina and Sperlonga are all within easy reach.

Skiing
During winter, skiing is possible at the alpine centres on Monti Simbruini just 50 minutes drive away.

Travel
Car rental is recommended, although a few buses depart for Rome and Naples from Serrone village, 10 minutes walk from the house. Trains to Rome depart from Anagni/Fiuggi or Colleferro stations just 20 minutes by car. The main A1 north-south autostrada is 20 minutes away giving easy access north to Rome and the hill towns of Umbria and south to the Bay of Naples, Pompei and the Amalfi coast beyond.

Rome Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) - 1hr.30 mins transfer by car.
Rome Ciampino - 1 hr transfer by car or 1hr.30 mins by rail and taxi or bus to Serrone.
Naples - 2hr transfer by car.
Pescara - 2hr.30 mins transfer by car.

Collection can be arranged from Rome airports, Anagni or Colleferro Railway Stations by prior arrangement.

Further details
Serrone, is 60km from Rome on the south facing slopes of Mount Scalambra in the Ernici range. The village, population approximately 3000, is of Roman origin and has a medieval character. Italy is renowned for its quality regional foods and wines. Large supermarkets can be found in all the local towns and there are several local markets. There are good restaurants and bars in the village and immediate area.

Various grades of walking are possible in the immediate area from gentle strolls on trails around the many hill towns and villages to more serious mountain walking in the higher Apennine mountains. The main European north-south walking route passes through Serrone. There are many miles of quiet roads and tracks and the disused railway from Rome to Fiuggi provides a cycle route through the immediate area. There is a private swimming pool in nearby Serrone La Forma that guests can use at reasonable cost. The more adventurous can paraglide from Monte Scalambra.
