Borgo degli Olivi (The Hamlet of the Olives), is a 5 minute walk to village of Casalini with bar and shop and a five minute drive to the shores of the famous Lake Trasimeno. The gardens and pool are spectacular, situated in the middle of an ancient olive grove. Conveniently located halfway between Rome and Florence, it is easily accessible from a number of airports. Rome (2 hrs dr), Pisa (2.5 hrs), Florence (1.5 hrs), Bologna (2.5 hrs) and Perugia (30 mins). Chiusi train station, which is on the main Rome-Florence line, and the A1 motorway are a 20 minute drive. Florence, Rome, Siena (1 hour), Pisa, Perugia, Cortona (30 mins), Orvieto (1 hr), Assisi (45 mins), Monteplulciano (30 mins), Pienza (45 mins) and many other attractions of Etruscan, Roman and Renaissance times are easily accessible. There are also a number of wonderful hilltop towns in the immediate vicinity including those of Panicale, Citta della Pieve, Castiglione del Lago and Paciano.There are 2 golf courses nearby.

About the owner
Don and I live in Dublin. We have 4 children and 1 grandchild. We visited the Trasimeno area in 2002 and fell in love with it! We always loved Italy but thought this area had it all and so began our quest for our ideal retreat. When we saw Borgo degli Olivi,we both thought we had arrived in heaven!! The views and location are just spectacular. There is a magnificent ancient olive tree on the patio outside our kitchen - that was it - we decided to buy instantly and have never regretted our hasty decision. Don has taken to spending many happy hours in the garden and looking after our magnificent olive trees, it has an array of lavender, oleander, rosemaryhedges, cypress trees, herbs. Peaches,figs, apple trees - always something in bloom and work to be done!

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We purchased the house in 2003 as a ruin - We renovated it into 2 self-contained units so that our children and friends have their own space when they visit. The house works equally well as one or two units as each area is totally separate but we also have the facility to get together on the main patio which can seat 12 comfortably. The other patio can seat up to 6. We also have 2 other separate seating areas - one with a swinging hammock and a beautiful private reading room in a very shaded area of the garden. We are centrally located - half -way between Rome and Florence, Siena and Assisi and in the centre of many ancient charming hill towns - Panicale -is the gem of them all - 4kms from house. Golf and skiing are also within easy access. There are lovely walks on our doorstep!

Unique benefits of the property
The pool is magnificent! It is shared with the other house in the borgo. When you stand in the middle of the pool you are looking out on the rustic hills . We have our own high quality sunbeds and is maintained by a professional pool company. We have an outdoor traditional bread oven which can be used as a barbecue or pizza oven if you are ambitious enough. While we are in a totally rural area, we are within a 5 min. walk to our local village of Casalini with a minimarket and and bar that sells the best and cheapest cappuchinos in Italy and a great location for a pre-dinner prosecco! We are a 5 min. drive from a riding school which also organise treks. Our gardener fishes on the lake and is licensed to bring people on his boat. He will. organise day trips on the lake
