Palazzetto da Schio overlooks Rio della Fornace, between the Guggenheim Collection and the Basilica della Salute, only one vaporetto stop away from St. Mark's Square. It is therefore very quiet, away from the noisy crowds, and, at the same time, close to the heart of Venice. The house has been recently restored therefore provides modern comfort, but preserves all the charm of the antique family furniture of the da Schio family.

Notes on prices
Pricing varies greatly according to the length of the visit, from a maximum of 270 Euro per night for very short visits to a minimum of 95 Euro per night for long visits.
Also, during some periods of the year I offer a 10% discount on the official rate

Changeover day
Arrival and departure dates and times are flexible. Guests are asked to be ready at 9am only if there is another family arriving in the apartment on the same day (as the cleaning of each apartment takes 3 or 4 hours).

Apartment #2 is on the top floor overlooking the garden.
It faces West so it has a lot of sun in the afternoon, and a pretty view over the garden and rooftops.
The bedroom has a queen size bed, and the sofa in the sitting-room is also a bed for an extra guest.
The bathroom has a tub with overhead shower, basin, bidet and WC.
The sitting-room also has two comfortable armchairs, and an antique writing desk
The kitchen is large, with the original XVI century stone sink; it is equipped with 4 gas fires, gas oven, microwave oven, toaster, mixer, juicer and complete set of kitchenware and tableware.
There are also a fridge and freezer, a washer/dryer machine and a dishwasher.

Apartment #3 is on the top floor over the canal. It faces East so it has a lot of sun in the morning and a pretty view over the canal.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, while the second bedroom has 2 twin single beds.
Both bathrooms have basin, bidet and WC, but one bathroom has a tub with overhead shower while the second one has a shower cabin.
In the living-room there is a bed-sofa for two extra guests. The living room also has comfortable armchairs and a large XVII century table.
The kitchen is small but it has a large window.
it is equipped with 4 gas fires, electric oven, microwave oven, toaster, mixer, juicer and complete set of kitchenware and tableware.
There are also a fridge and freezer, a washer/dryer machine and a dishwasher.

Apartment #4 is on the mezzanine floor overlooking the canal. It faces East so it has a lot of sun in the morning and a pretty view over the canal.
For guests who have difficulties climbing stairs the mezzanine floor is ideal because there is only a very short flight of steps.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, while the second bedroom has 2 twin single beds.
Both bathrooms have basin, bidet and WC, but one bathroom has a tub with overhead shower while the second one has a shower cabin.
The living-room has a comfortable sofa, armchairs, antique cabinets and a XVII century table.

Notes on accommodation
Each apartment is equipped with satellite TV and DVD player.
Each apartment has independent heating and air-conditioning.
A baby bed and equipment for toddlers is available on request but, because antique furniture is delicate children should be well supervised for their own safety and also for the safety of the furnishings.

Accessibility
The house has no lift so it is not suitable for people with serious mobility problems, but we can provide a wheelchair for guests who cannot walk or stand for long.

Outside
At the back of the house there is a small garden, provided with garden chairs which is open to all the guests.
In the middle there is a medieval well with grass and shrubs all around it.

Coast/Beach
The LIDO with all its beautiful beaches is 30 minutes away. One gets there by water-bus (vaporetto)

Travel
Marco Polo airport is about one hour away: 30 minutes by water taxi, 90 minutes by waterbus.

Distances
From Venice one can easily get to the mainland by train: Padova is 20 minutes away and Treviso almost the same, Vicenza 50 minutes, Verona 90 minutes.

Further details
Guests find a map which shows where all the useful shops, banks, restaurants, etc., nearest the house can be found, in easy walking distance.

About the owner
I grew up in this house where my family has lived for many generations, so I love it very much. When guests come here I like sharing it with them and I do my very best to make them comfortable so that they may also love this house a little and retain happy memories of their holidays here. Venice is not only the Dogal Palace and Rialto Bridge: it was built with loving care by hundreds of thousands of Venetians through the centuries and our homes are the living testimony of this tradition which I try to continue.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
I didn't buy this house: my family has lived here for many generations. I feel lucky, living here, because the area is very quiet, away from the noise of the crowds and of the traffic, and yet only one vaporetto stop away from St. Mark's square. It is also well served by the "traghetto" (gondola-ferry) close to the house and by the vaporetto stops of Salute, Accademia and Zattere.

Unique benefits of the property
I manage my apartments and take care of my guests personally, not through an agency as most owners do in Venice. I also live in the house and my door is open all day. If my guests need anything, want help or information, they simply drop in for a chat. I like to share my house with the guests and let them experience life in a real Venetian home. The furniture is mostly antique from the 17th and 18th centuries. People who come here can enjoy the "real thing", not imitation. Obviously, what did not exist in the past centuries, like washing machines, microwave ovens and WIFI Internet is modern and up to date.
