La Fucina nestles above the Serchio valley which runs through the Garfagnana area of Tuscany not far from the historic walled city of Lucca. The private pool is 10 by 5 metres and enjoys stunning panoramic views of the Serchio valley and the Appenine and Apuane moutains. La Fucina was transformed from a barn into a comfortable dwelling house in 2006/2007 and is constructed from the local “Cardoso” stone, named after the quaint but lively little village just up the hill. This barn renovation retains all the character of a Tuscan country dwelling with chestnut beams and terracotta tiles whilst giving the guest all that is required for modern living. Changeover day
Bookings will usually commence on a Saturday in high season. Departure time is 10am and arrivals not before 3pm.

Outside
Running along the two double patio doors coming from the open plan kitchen and living room is a substantial patio which catches the morning sun and is shady in the afternoon. This is perfect for those who need the shade in the hot afternoon.
Another patio complete with a dining suite of teak garden furniture, seating from 6-8 people is situated between the house and the pool. This also enjoys panoramic views of the valley and is ideal for alfresco dining.
The private pool is 10m by 5m and easily accessible by the Roman steps leading down into the pool.
Coast/Beach
The Versillia coast is known as the Italian Riviera and is within one hours drive of La Fucina. The main resort of the region is Viareggio.
Golf
There are a few golf courses in the area (e.g. Forte dei Marmi, Castlenuovo).
Skiing
Abetone is a premier Italian ski resort 1 hours drive away in the beautiful Apuanne mountain range.
Special interest holidays
The region is excellent for walking/trekking, mountain biking, cycling, hang gliding, skiing, eating, drinking and sight-seeing.
Travel
Pisa airport is 1 hours drive away and is served by all the main airports. Car hire is also available here. Other airports include Bologna (2.5 hours away).

Cardoso is 2km. Barga is 6km. Gallicano is 5km. Lucca 30km. Abetone 40km. Pisa 60km. Florence 130km.
Booking notes
Lettings will always commence on a Saturday. We will require 25% of the rental price as deposit. Balance 10 weeks before start of holiday (plus a £350 returnable security/damages deposit, refundable at the end of your holiday). Alterations subject to a charge of £30 for each alteration made. Cancellation by You. If you wish to cancel your holiday entirely you must do so in writing, either by e-mail or post.

The week spent at La Fucina,last summer with my family,was fantastic. The villa was fully equiped and decorated to a very high standard,making our stay extremely comfortable. Outside was amazing,the private pool,the beautiful gardens, the patios with elegant wooden furniture and all these surrounded by the most extraordinary views of valleys and mountains. The villa area was quiet yet close to local amenities and close to places such as Barga and Lucca,beautiful places to visit for sightseeing,shopping and wonderful restaurants.
I can't wait to go back this summer and look forward to awakening each morning,in the wonderful master bedroom,with superb views of the mountains and the deep blue sky. Roll on July! Nicola Wolseley
