The apartment is in an 18th century building, on the top floor of 3. It has been completely re-designed by a Venetian architect, and the quality of workmanship is superb. It is bright, airy and extremely comfortable, with air-conditioning and central heating. We have recently installed WiFi and an internet radio which means you can stay in touch with home whilst on your holidays. Our roof-top altana has a herb garden, and there is a yoga mat for yoga practitioners who might like to salute the sun from the Venice rooftop.

Notes on prices
Three different seasonal rates apply in Venice, and the price varies throughout the year.
Prices are for the property, per night, in euros.
The cleaning charge is between €50 - €65.00 depending on size of group.
There is a new Venice visitor tax which is €5 / person / night (Max 5 nights).
Children under 10 are exempt. We are obliged to collect this tax on behalf of the Venetian authorities.

Notes on accommodation
There is a kettle, and usually some tea-bags left in the cupboard. There is also a Blik internet radio for your favourite stations from home.
Coast/Beach
We are two vaporetto stops from the Lido, where there is a beach. For families this means that you are about 5 minutes from the Lido, and about 15 minutes from the beach.
Skiing
The ski resorts of Belluno and Cortina d'Ampezzo are just a short train ride away from Venice.
Travel
Nearest airport is Marco Polo Airport, and only slightly further, about 15 minutes further is Treviso airport.
Booking notes
A 30% non-refundable deposit is required, with the balance paid prior to your stay. A cheque for £250 to be sent as a security deposit against damages, and safe return of keys. This will be returned to the client after their stay.

About the owner
We are a family of 5 based in Ireland, and we completely fell in love with Venice. Our apartment was lovely before but now is a work of art, everything in it is new and beautiful, in particular the roof terrace adds a whole new experience as you can have breakfast up there on a spring morning, or have a glass of wine in the later evening when the heat goes out of the day. The area is quiet and completely Venetian, smells of cooking, vegetable and fish mongers, washing hanging out, church bells ringing during the day, and people greeting each other across the square as they stop and drink a 'Spritz' aperitivo. It is safe, tranquil, no cars, no stress and life moves at a totally different pace. There will be coffee in the cupboard, chilled water in the fridge, and a warm welcome from us!

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
The Castello area is still the true Venice, where you can mingle with children off to school, whilst their nonna (granny) greets them as they dash by. You are 15 minutes from the thick of the action, San Marco square, the Palazzo Grassi, the new Punta della Dogana and of course Rialto and Strada Nuova. However, you are 5 minutes from the Giardini (with a children's playground) where you can enjoy the view onto the sparkling water of the Lagoon. Or jump onto a number 1 Vaporetto to bring you to the Lido beach in about 2 minutes flat. Our square has a trattoria in it, and Massimo will greet you warmly. We have a supermarket on one side, and Via Garibaldi is 3 minutes walk away. The slow easy pace of Venice will seduce you...
Unique benefits of the property
Getting to the apartment is a 10 minute walk from the Arsenale vaporetto stop, or a 20 minute taxi journey from Marco Polo Airport. It is extremely easy to find, and this is not the case with many Venetian properties. There is no concern with 'acqua alta' as we are on the third floor, but there are some wellies and raincoats for your use anyway! The roof terrace is our gem, as you can sit up there and sun bathe or just relax with a drink and have a 360 degree view of the city, right out to the Dolomites...
