The apartment is on the ground floor of a beautifully restored and converted loggia, with resident neighbours. It provides a wonderful base whether you want to relax or explore. Lake Iseo is a more manageable size than Garda or Como and retains much of it's own personality, having avoided excessive development. The lake is still fished using the traditional boat, the gondola style 'naet'. The vineyards in the hills surrounding the lake are famous for their sparkling wines and they welcome visitors. The apartment is only 12km from the Milan/Venice motorway and mainline railway stations but off the beaten track. Arranging a cycling holiday couldn't be easier. An evening at the opera is perfectly possible at either the Verona Arena or La Scala, Milano.

Special interest holidays
If you fly to Bergamo Orio al Serio you can take a 15 min bus ride to the central station and pick up a mountain bike there for 10 euros a day or 50 euros a week from Ciclostazione 42 (open Mon - Fri 7.30-11.30am / 4pm – 930pm).

Further details
The village has excellent restaurants, a good butcher, baker, delicatessen, pharmacy, bank, post office and daily visits by fruit and vegetable sellers, all within 300m of the apartment. There is a large supermarket and cinema just 5 mins away by car or 15 mins away by bicycle.
The annual tinca (tench) festival in Clusane marks the beginning of the tinca fishing season and is celebrated with a week of festivities which invariably include a plate of 'tinca al forno' the local speciality of tench and polenta.
There are two lidos and tennis courts within walking/cycling distance. The shoreline between Clusane and Iseo is a 360 hectare wetland nature reserve.
The area around the lake is famous for its thermal spas and there are a number within a short drive ranging from those with open air natural pools to 4 star spa hotels and treatment clinics.
The more adventurous visitors have arrived by bus and boat, but car hire makes dinner in Venice possible for the more adventurous with a car!

About the owner
Jonathan and I bought our apartment in 2006 and have enjoyed exploring on foot, by bus, bike and car. We are something of an oddity in this very Italian village but the locals are incredibly welcoming and friendly. There are tourists in the area but they are mainly campers in sites along the shore of the lake to the west of Clusane.
Whether trying to get away from it all or coming with a list of things to do and places to see you will find all you need and more.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We plan to move to Italy to live and work for a few years before retirement.

It is a reasonably priced base which, with a car, could not be easier to get to quickly and, from which, the north of Italy is your oyster!
