Villa Gemelli is a restored former farmhouse, 6 miles north of Volterra and 9 miles from San Gimignano. The extremely imaginative restoration, designed by an award-winning Australian architect, has created a luxurious, airy and light villa with very generous proportions. With a modern edge, but using traditional materials for floors and ceilings, the property offers sumptuous living with all modern facilities. The gardens are beautifully manicured with lawns and shrubs and the surrounding countryside is planted with fruit trees, olive groves and wheat fields. There is a large swimming pool (5x12m) and a professional tennis court and from the house and gardens one has stunning views over the Tuscan rolling landscape and to the hill town of Volterra itself. Pisa is just a 40 minute drive away and the seaside can be reached within an hour. The Villa is ideally located for lazy summer days interspersed with half day and full day trips to some of Tuscany's finest towns.

There is a double bedroom on the ground floor with en-suite bathroom.
Outside
There is a large patio to the front of the house, overlooking the pool complete with garden furniture and barbecue. From here there are stunning views to Volterra. To the side of the house is a naturally covered pergola. The private pool is 12x5m and there are loungers and sun umbrella. The tennis court is built to a professional standard.

The beaches of the Ligurian coast are 40 kms away.
Travel
Pisa is the closest airport, only a 40 minute drive away.
Car hire is essential.
Distances
Volterra is 6 miles away and San Gimignano is 9 miles away.
Further details
There is a very good local restaurant at Molina D'Era which is a 5 minute drive away. There are two restaurants close to Volterra which are credited in the 'Osterie d'Italia' guide book. All amenities can be found in Volterra: large supermarkets, banks, chemists etc. Volterra produces beautiful alabaster and there are numerous shops and factories around the town selling wonderfully carved objects.
Booking notes
We can hold an option on the house for you for 3 days. Reservations are guaranteed on receipt of a 30% deposit (non-refundable). The remaining balance must be paid 8 weeks before the rental commences.
