The apartment is part of a restored 16 century farmhouse, which also includes owner's residence and another small cottage. It is situated on the edge of a quiet Umbrian village (40 minutes from Perugia). It is secluded and private with access to a large garden looking south across the olive groves, grape vines and farmland of the Umbrian countryside, to the 1000m high Monte Martana. The altitude of Collesecco, at some 490m (1,500 feet), tempers the extremes of the Italian summer, whilst in the winter the house is sheltered from the north winds. Phyllis Thompson, who owns the house, is permanently resident and the house and grounds are well cared for and welcoming.

Accessibility
As the property is all on one floor it is suitable for those persons with impaired mobility. Garden can be accessed without steps.
Outside
One and a half hectares of garden (mostly grassed) is available for all guests. There is a view for several kilometers over vineyards, olive groves, agricultural land and woods.
The verandah is provided with loungers, wooden chairs and a table.
Coast/Beach
The apartment is located in almost the exact centre of Italy. Both the west coast (Civitavecchia/Orbetello and east coast Ancona /Rimini) are about 2 hours drive away.
Travel
The nearest airport is Perugia (40 minutes by road) with regular scheduled service by Ryanair from London - Stansted. Rome, Florence and Ancona airports are approximately 2 hour train service or road. As local public transport is negligible a car is almost essential.
Distances
The village is almost exactly half-way between Rome and Florence, each at 160km. It is central to a circle of medieval towns e.g. Assisi, Foligno, Spoleto, Terni, Orte, Orvieto, Perugia and Spello, all of which are some 40-50 minutes drive away. The resort of Lake Trasemeno can be reached in about an hour.

Within easy walking distance the village provides a large range of shops and services such as a well-stocked mini-market, baker, butcher, fresh fish, electrical, mobile phone service, barber, ladies hairdresser, Post Office, a variety of general stores and 2 bars, and a service station (petrol and diesel).
There are two restaurants in the village, an excellent restaurant/pizzeria at 1.5km, and several other good restaurants at neighbouring villages.
Our nearest small town of Bastardo (4km) supplies additional goods, banks and services and a weekly market.
Booking notes
A deposit of 160 euros ensures a reservation. The full rental is due 6 weeks before the beginning of the occupancy. Gas and electricity is metered and charged as used.

About the owner
After restoring the beautiful old ruin of a farmhouse that became Casa Alloro, I have now lived on the edge of the village of Colleseco for 20 delightful years. Nearly all this time I have been lucky to entertain many guests, some of whom I now treat as valuable old friends. I try to keep a homely and comfortable atmosphere in which guests can relax, immerse themselves in local history (from the Etruscans onwards), write, or just continue relaxing.
