This traditional family house with private pool is in the beautiful Garfagnana region of Tuscany, set in a valley between the Appenine and Apuane Mountains. The house, which itself accommodates 7 people, has a large garden which contains a Metato, a converted barn which has accommodation for another 3 people. This is only rented with the farmhouse in the event of a group requiring more accommodation. With 3 bedrooms and spectacular mountain views from the garden and surrounding meadow, this newly renovated, atmospheric old house is suitable for a large family or group of friends. There is a fine pool in the garden, with ample decking and a patio for outdoor dining. The pool has a special dark liner which is harmonious with the natural surroundings, and which has the excellent benefit of keeping the water some 3 degrees warmer than standard pools. The garden and surrounds are safe for children to play in and explore.

Notes on accommodation
The house is well equipped and comfortably furnished, with traditional chestnut beamed ceilings and tiled floors.
the luxury converted barn is around 20 metres from the farmhouse, but has its own privacy. The cost is an extra £50 per day, or £300 per week all inclusive. The barn can only be rented with the farmhouse ensuring private use of the pool and garden when only the farmhouse is being rented.
Outside
The garden is large with wooded, shaded areas, and many areas for children to explore,or to achieve privacy.
For environmental reasons the swimming pool has a black liner. This ensures that the pool is several degrees warmer than most swimming pools. There is comfortable natural wood decking, and ample sunloungers.

The nearest resort is the swish Forti dei Marmi 50kms drive.
Golf
Local golf course 10 kms.
Skiing
There is skiing nearby.

We are connected to an Outdoor Activities company and mountaineering, mountain biking, world class gorge walking, horse riding and caving can be arranged. It is also possible to arrange cookery classes.
Travel
Pisa Airport is 75km. Trains to Lucca 5km. Car recommended, but a local English speaking mini-bus taxi is available.

Tuscany is the most popular region of Italy, famous for its wonderful climate, landscape, and art treasures. The famous 'art' cities of Florence, Sienna and Lucca are huge attractions, whilst the culinary tradition is there to be savoured.
The Garfagnana is arguably the most scenic area of Tuscany, and is indisputably the best for walking. There are many Outdoor Activities on offer, and we give useful local info and recommendations.
The area is well known for its excellent value cooking, using the best of local ingredients. A typical set lunch with 4 choices of pasta course and 4 choices of main course costs only 9-10 euros inclusive of bread, wine and coffee. An evening main course typically costs 7-12 euros, with fine pizzas at only 5 euros. It is possible to have a multi-course traditional Sunday lunch or dinner with ample wine, coffee and liquors for less than 25 euros.
