Casa Aurora was rebuilt recently and specifically designed as a luxury holiday home incorporating every requirement for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The spacious kitchen and living areas open directly onto a huge panoramic dining terrace that overlooks the pool, which is surrounded by paving and lawn and enjoys wonderful lake views. The grounds are well planted with lots of floral colour and are immaculately maintained and the house is surrounded by mature trees.

Changeover day
In peak season, preference is given to a Saturday changeover, but please ask if you would prefer to arrive on a different day.

Notes on accommodation
In the hottest weather, the house remains cool because the elevated location enjoys summer breezes and the woodland setting provides shade. The windows are all fitted with louvred external shutters to provide shade and privacy while allowing cooling circulation of air. For cooler evenings, there is a large, wonderfully efficient wood burning fireplace with glass door for full view of the flames. The living room occupies the centre of the house with the kitchen and dining room opening directly from the living room through a wide arched opening. Beside the kitchen, a staircase leads up to the charming third bedroom which, with its bathroom, occupies all of the upper floor. It has windows on two sides with pretty views of the pool and Lake Trasimeno to the front and the woodland to the side and rear. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and peaceful leafy views while the equally spacious second bedroom has woodland views.
Accessibility
While the house has not been constructed for wheelchair users, it would be suitable for guests who have difficulty with stairs. There are just two steps from the upper driveway to the terrace, after which all of the main part of the house and terrace is on the same level.
Outside
Much of the outdoor area is beautifully paved with flagstones and there is a lawn area beyond the pool. Behind the house is a large woodland area ensuring privacy and tranquillity. The pool enjoys some shade from the large oak tree, carefully preserved during the rebuilding works. There is a six-seater teak dining table and chairs on the upper terrace, shaded by a large and sturdy umbrella as well as a smaller table with four chairs. Around the pool there is a generous supply of loungers. A barbecue is provided. The house is situated at the end of a little no-exit tree-lined lane so there is no passing traffic and the location is very peaceful and private.
Coast/Beach
Lake Trasimeno is ten minutes from the villa and it offers water sports, boat hire, several little beaches and ferry trips out to the islands that dot the lake.
Travel
The nearest airport is Perugia (45 minutes) and Rome Ciampino, Rome Fiumicino, Florence Peretola and Pisa are about two hours away. From Fiumicino airport, it is possible to take the train and pick up a hire car locally. Details supplied on request.
Distances
Driving downhill from the villa towards the lake, the little town of Tuoro sul Trasimeno is ten minutes away - it has an attractive old centre and a good range of shops, restaurants and services and a weekly produce market. In the other direction, the towns of Mercatale di Cortona and Lisciano Niccone are fifteen minutes away, at the entrance to the lovely Niccone valley. Near Tuoro is the lakeside town of Castiglione del Lago which has an historic centre with many specialty food and wine shops.
Further details
Casa Aurora is a well-placed base for exploring - the following are within an hour's drive: Cortona, Montepulciano, Assisi, Perugia, and all the lakeside towns. Siena is an easy drive on the highway north of Lake Trasimeno (only ten minutes from the house) that connects Siena and Perugia. It is even possible to do day trips by train (inexpensive and relaxing) to Rome and Florence.
