Rural farmhouse in quiet hamlet location, near the village of Varsi. Not far from shops, restaurants and clean river. Local attractions include Bardi Castle, Parma, Salsamaggiore Golf Centre, Bologna and Modena. Great location for sight seeing and enjoying unspoilt Italian life.

Notes on accommodation
The interior of the house has been recently repainted. All of the windows have shutters and insect screens fitted. Wood is available in the barn for the wood burners if you need it. 2 wood burning stoves.
Clothes airer and pegs included. Due to the open nature of the staircase, the property is unsuitable for younger children.
Outside
Patio area to the front and side, with a bench and chairs. The house has its own orchard where apples, pears, plums, figs, cherries and walnuts are available depending on the season.
Ample parking for 3-4 cars in front of the house. Washing line to the side of the property.
Coast/Beach
The Tuscan resort of Sestri- Sandy beach is 70km. The Tuscan resort of Cinque Terre- beach is also 70km. La Spezia is approx a 120km. Approx 2 miles away is the Ceno River this is paradise, the river is very clean and quiet. We have spent long lazy days just swimming, paddling and chatting. When you feel hungry just fire up a BBQ and enjoy alfresco dining.
Special interest holidays
Fantastic opportunity for both Road and MTB, the main roads are wonderful, long and smooth and also lots of challenging hill climbs with stunning scenery. Equally for the MTB enthusiast the house is in a rural location, and there are tracks up and down the mountain all easily accessible from the house. Also importantly for both discipline after a long hard ride, what better way to unwind than sitting in a traditional Italian Cafe, drinking coffee and eating cake! Please note at the moment we do not supply any bikes, but there is secure storage if you wish to bring your bike on holiday.

Parma 45km (Ryan-air) Pisa 100km (Easy Jet) Bologna 120km, Milan Bergoma (Ryan Air) 150km, Linate and Malpensa 130km. (Easy Jet and Ryan Air) Car hire is essential and available at all airports.

In Varsi you have a selection of shops (delicatessen, clothes, toys, hardware), bars, cafes, restaurants, bank with an ATM, doctors and pharmacy are also available. There is a local market in Varsi on Friday, where you can buy fresh fruit and Veg and Meat and Fish as well as clothes.
For a wider selection of shops and bars and restaurants and internet cafes, visit Bardi which is 10km away, you can also visit the medieval castle and a larger market on Thursdays.
Both the markets allow you to source fresh local produce. If you are lucky and book during festival time you will be able to enjoy a traditional Italian street party, with loud music, singing and eating.

About the owner
I am 2nd generation Italian lived in England all my life, parents emigrated to England after the end of WW2. Growing up revolved around the family, food and wine. I have my own family & adopt the same values without so much wine.
The house has been in the family for over 200 years fond memories of long hot summers in the mountains with my English and Italian families, helping on the farm, visiting local towns for Fiesta and swimming in the Ceno which is still as clear and clean as i remember it.
The house is rural nearly at the top of a Mountain, it enjoys stunning views of the valley and the air is clean and crisp, and it is a real get away from it all. Load of tracks for walking, running or cycling or even if you fancy practising your Italian try it on my cousins!
