Further details
If you tire of relaxing by the pool, soaking up the sun, Le Casette is the perfect base to explore the surrounding area. The main towns of Gualdo, San Genesio and Sarnano all have a weekly market, supermarkets, banks, bakeries, fruit and vegetable shops and chemists. Sarnano, being the largest of these naturally has more of each and also a medical centre. Slightly further afield the towns of Amandola, Penna San Giovanni and St Angelo in Pantano all offer something a little different for the visitor to see. Many of the towns in the area have been awarded the Bandiere Arancione (Orange Banner) by the Italian tourist board, which denotes towns of special interest and beauty. Beyond the immediate vicinity lies the Sibillini National Park.Within the park are several lakes. The Lago Fiastra is a man-made lake with tantalising azure water, in which the locals swim. Even though the journey is a little scary through 'S' bends the view when you arrive is well worth it. There are several cycling routes around the area, ranging in distance from 10 to 100 km, all of which are ratified by the Italian Cycling Federation.Cycles can be hired from Sarnano. Walking is a delight in the woods and forests which surround the house and in the National Park all forms of wildlife abound. The whole area is a Mecca for artists, and photographers.
Naturally, as in the whole of Italy, culture and festivals play an important part in life. In August virtually every town has evening festivals which are free to attend. The 'buzz' in and around the piazza is electric on these occasions. Most of the towns have magnificent medieval churches and buildings to complement the narrow pavements and streets. Macherata holds it's world-famous opera in the town's amphitheatre each year in July. Le Marche produces its own local white wine, Verdicchio and you can book to visit Cantinas to see the wine being made. But remember, whatever your choice 'Amore Italia' 'Amore Le Marche' 'Amore Le Casette'.
