The entrance to this apartment is on the front of the cottage, where the terrace is situated, furnished with a large wooden table for outdoor breakfasts, and chairs and stools to sit in the sun. Two doors allow you to enter the spacious interior.
On the left is the cooking area, including a fridge, oven and gas-stove. In the centre is the dining area with a small fireplace between the two entrance doors, and on the right is the living area with a comfortable bed couch.
A wooden staircase leads up to a double bedroom with a small bathroom and shower. To the left of the kitchen, a step lower than the rest, is the second double bedroom with a large bathroom and shower.
This apartment is very spacious comfortable and welcoming, also due to the fact of perfect use of wooden materials for the interior.

This is a beautiful apartment with a private entrance on the front part of the cottage, slightly hidden by the corner of a house. In front of the apartment is a small, well placed terrace, from which one has a magnificent view of the Apuan Alps. Inside, a wooden staircase leads upwards. On the right, two steps down, is the dining room with a typical Tuscan fireplace and a bed couch. A balcony divides the kitchen area, including a gas-stove, fridge and oven, and the dining room. Two doors lead away from the kitchen: one to a double bedroom, the other to a bathroom and shower, one step higher. The room has a number of arched windows. This was probably the “METATO” of the house (an ancient Roman term used for a room in which chestnuts were stored and left to dry). Returning to the entrance, the wooden staircase leads up to a room with a double bed and a door to a small bathroom including a sink, toilet and shower. The roof of the room is tilted and about 1 metre high at the lowest point.

This apartment is on a lower part of the property, and the entrance can be reached from the garden to the right, following a short path leading to a private terrace. At the end of a small courtyard, one step up is the entrance to the apartment. Since the terrace is built upon a protruding part of the hill, it is protected by a wooden fence. The entrance leads to a large room with a living area and a dining area. Also here we find a comfortable bed couch and a characteristic Tuscan fireplace. The dining area contains a gas-stove, a fridge and an oven. In front of the kitchen, a few steps higher, a door leads to a small courtyard in shape of a horseshoe. To the left of the kitchen, up one step, is a short hallway with door to a single bedroom, and, up one step, at the end of the hallway is a bathroom with washbasin, WC, and shower niche. To the left of the fireplace, up four steps is a landing from which doors lead to a double bedroom, a single bedroom, and a bathroom and shower.

This hay-loft is separated from the main house and can be reached by a path to the left of the cottage that leads directly to the open gallery of this apartment. Since the path is a bit steep, we do not recommend this apartment to elderly persons. Instead, it is ideal for young couples on their honeymoon because it is separated from the rest of the cottage, and the open gallery offers a magnificent view of the century-old forests of the Apuan Alps. From the gallery one can access the living room. Also here there is beautiful fireplace and a bed couch. The dining table is close to a door that opens up to the terrace. In a corner created by the wooden staircase upwards, is a fully equipped kitchen. At the end of the stairs is a double bedroom, with a window door to the upper terrace, and a window where the original, typical windscreen bricks have been preserved. In the bedroom, a door leads to a small fully equipped bathroom.

Travel
Nearest airport is Pisa approx 1 hour drive away. This gives you the choice of flying from locations throughout the UK and also allows you to take advantage of the many low cost airlines that now fly to the region.
Although there is train service to Barga-Gallicano (about 10 km from the property) we would suggest that a car is essential.

Distances
Once you arrive, with so much space and such peaceful surroundings it is hard to tear yourself away but the close proximity to many of Italy's major attractions including Lucca and Pisa make this an ideal base from which to explore.
Barga, a mediaeval walled town with summer music festival and beautiful 11th century cathedral, 20 km. Lucca, 'city of art', has cultural events, antique markets and many fine shops, 50 km. Pisa, with its leaning tower, 'Campo Santo' and riverside palaces, 45km.

Guest comments
We enjoyed the surroundings, the appartment & pool but most of all: Mrs. Saisi, David & Daniele who went out of their way to hand us all sorts of info & really made our stay into the perfect holiday. We've enjoyed the trip with lunch to the monastery. They did their utmost to make sure we had a great time. We really felt like part of the family with all the personal attention of the Saisi family.

Please make sure that during your own stay you get to know the surrounding villages as well for they offer great food & nice people all around! Italian life at it's best!
