Farro is a small village in the Prosecco-growing hills about 40 miles north of Venice. Hill and mountain walks are to the north, the spectacular Dolomites are close by. Culture and swimming are to the south. Venice is easily (and cheaply!) accessible by train. The house is on the 'Strada del Vino Bianco' which is a scenic road through the hills and vineyards of the area. This is a very green part of Italy. It is also a very wealthy part of Italy.

Notes on accommodation
The house has central heating. It is child-friendly although it is close to a road. It is furnished fairly simply but has some nice antique tables. The hi-fis are ipod-friendly. There are a lot of books.
Accessibility
There are steps up to the front door.
Outside
Set in our vineyard with plenty of outside space. Apples, figs and walnuts fall off trees, depending on the season. The grapes are for Prosecco wine and are not good to eat.
Coast/Beach
40 miles to coast. 7 miles to lake. 7 miles to river-swimming(only for good swimmers, but very good fun).
Skiing
Nevegal is about 45 minutes by car, but it is a low resort and snow can not be guaranteed!

Horse-riding can be arranged in the village.

Venice, 1 hour.
Treviso, 1 hour.
Distances
Venice about one hour.
Padua about one hour.
Asolo about 45 minutes.
Vicenza about 90 minutes by car.
Verona about two hours by car.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
This house has been in our family since I was a teenager. It was bought by my parents and now belongs to my brother and me. My father was a music historian with a great love of venetian music, the house was bought so that he could work in Venice but escape to the green hills and clean air of the Prealpi.
