Notes on accommodation
Trullo Bellisimo has full central heating throughout and a pellet stove for additional comfort during the cooler evenings. This integrated building with 300 year origins, was designed to stay cool in summer with thick stone walls and conical/ vaulted ceilings. The three original buildings are joined internally, but have doors to both the front and rear terraces. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans for additional comfort and all windows and doors have screens. Soft furnishings have been designed to add a splash of colour and an ethnic feel to the natural stone canvas provided by the walls and marble tiled floors. The living/dining area is light and airy with vaulted stone ceilings and provides the perfect environment for a relaxed holiday. For those that wish to have a quiet read or doze, the Ethnic Room is the place to go.

Accessibility
The property is all on one level and has level terraces all around. There are several long, but not high steps that lead to the pool area. The external dining terrace is on the same level as the main villa.

Outside
Trullo Bellissimo is set within it's own 2 and 1/2 acre olive grove with landscaped gardens comprising of grassed areas and flower beds. The external amenities include a sun terrace with seating for those ‘sundowner’ moments looking over olive groves to the hill town of Cisternino, where the sun sets in a blaze of glory. Also, there is a lower terrace with a large marble dining table (can easily seat 8/10 people) and outdoor kitchen with sink BBQ and herb garden. Both terraces are linked by a private 10 x 5m private swimming pool with sun loungers and rustic shower. A selection of fruit trees and herbs are there for the picking. The pool depths range from 2.2m to 1m with steps at the shallow end. Particular care must be exorcised for those with young children as the pool area is NOT gated. Also, there are open steps leading up to the roof of the old Trullo, these being a feature of this type of property. There is ample private parking and the property is fully alarmed.

Coast/Beach
Only 30 minutes away are the fabulous beaches of the Adriatic. There is a whole coastline (the longest in Italy) to choose from, where there are sandy stretches and rocky coves. Some beaches have 'paid for' areas, where you can hire beds and umbrellas, but the vast majority are free. For example, there is Costa Merlata 18km. Free sandy safe beach with clear seas, between a couple of rocky headlands. Also, only 22km is a lido that charges with cafes, shops, parasols, parking, showers, toilets etc

Travel
Reached by direct flights from the UK and other European Cities as well as connecting flights via Rome or Milan, Trullo Bellissimo is only approx 40 minutes and 1 hour respectively from Brindisi and Bari airports. There is a ferry port at Brindisi and a rail link to Rome from Bari or Brindisi. Hire cars are highly recommended and can be obtained from the airports or towns.

Distances
Bellissimo is located only 8km-20km to five historic hill towns that have all necessary facilities including hypermarkets, hospitals, pharmacies, bakeries, butchers etc. There is a mini-market (2km) that sells most of the essentials, plus coffee and pastries. The hill towns also host regular markets, antique fairs, festivals and, of course, fantastic local restaurants. All of these towns have 'historic centres' that are great for wandering around before a glass of Puglian wine and a meal.

Owner profile

About the owner
The owners of Trullo Bellissimo are Keith and Moira who live in Somerset, England. Having travelled to the north of Italy and Rome for many years, Moira read ‘Christ Stopped at Eboli’ by the great physician, painter, parliamentarian and novelist, Carlo Levi, which detailed in such heart-rending prose his internal exile in the south, during the early years of Mussolini, the poverty and humanity of its people. So Moira said, we must go south – I want to meet these people. And so we did and have never questioned that decision. Much has changed, except of course the people! Having purchased the property in November 2006, renovation was completed in April 2009. We welcomed our first quests in June 2009 and since then we have been completely booked through to the end of each season.

Year purchased: 2006
