This spacious villa has 4 large double bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 kitchens (upstairs and downstairs) depending on where you want to eat and a large living room. There are full length balconies front and rear with stunning views across the open countryside. There are log fires upstairs and downstairs for Winter use, the property is fully central heated. The villa is in a quiet and tranquil location but within easy drive to supermarkets, restaurants and the market towns of Penne and Farindola famous for its pecorino cheese. Only 10 minutes drive is the WWF conservation area at the lake of Penne. This is an ideal location to tour the two National parks of Abruzzo, one of the most remote and unspoilt areas in Europe that is home to bears, wild boar and wolves, in the Spring and Summer months you will see eagles and buzzards circling in the thermals above the surrounding countryside. Local gastronomic delights are the cheeses, arrosticini and the excellent Montepulciano d' Abruzzo wines.

Changeover day
Changeover day is normally Saturday but we can be flexible with this.

Notes on accommodation
There are log fires upstairs and downstairs and also central heating for the Winter months, we keep a large supply of logs that can be bought at cost price. The house has thick walls, double glazing, marble floors and shutters, this will keep the house warm in the Winter and also help to keep it cool in the Summer. The property can be let as a whole unit for 8 people or split, 2 in the downstairs apartment and 6 in the upstairs accommodation. Large 90 square metre games room with pool table, table tennis table, sofas and two playstation consoles with 50 plus games for the use of guests. There are two additional TVs and DVD players that can be placed in the bedrooms of your choice. The area is safe for children as there is very little traffic apart from the odd tractor. There are two sofa beds in the games room that can sleep an additional 4 people by prior arrangement making it an ideal location for a two family holiday.
Accessibility
The ground floor apartment would be suitable for wheelchair access and the large walk in shower in the 4th bathroom would be ideal for wheelchair access.
Outside
The area is safe for children as there is little traffic apart from the occasional tractor, there is about 1.5 acres of garden surrounding the house with olive and fruit trees, there is ample area outside on the patio to barbecue and dine in the evening with the convenience of the downstairs kitchen at hand.
Coast/Beach
The Adriatic coast is less than 45 minutes drive away, there is 100km of beautiful sandy beaches including the award winning Pineto bordered by shady pine woods. The beaches along the coast cater for all tastes from the quiet and secluded to the busy promenade fronted beaches of Pescara and Montesilvano with many restaurants and shops.
Golf
There is a golf course 30 minutes drive away at Lanciano. There are also golf courses at Pescara and Chieti about 45 minutes drive.
Skiing
Winter skiing is available at Passo Lanciano abot 45 minutes drive away were many Italian families visit. For Winter visitors the gas central heating usage will be charged at meter price.
Special interest holidays
The National Parks of Abruzzo are a favourite for the Italians vacation, there are many scenic walks and cycling routes in the surrounding countryside. Italian cooking lessons and horse riding can be arranged with prior notice. There is a large open air Lido less than 30 minutes drive which is a great day out for all the family and hosts evening entertainment. There is also a fantastic water park less than 1 hour away at Tortoreto.
Travel
Ryan air fly direct to Pescara from Stansted. Pescara airport is about 45 minutes drive to the villa, it is also possible to fly to Ancona, about 2 hours drive away. There are numerous budget airlines that fly into Rome including Ryan air and Easy jet, Rome is an easy 2.5 hours drive, a large portion being on the empty autostrada and then the scenic SS81, a panoramic route in all seasons. Car hire is simple and reasonably priced at all the airports when booked online.
Distances
The town of Farindola is only 5 minutes drive away where you can find shops, 3 bars and restaurants, there is also a market on Friday morning. The historic walled town of Penne dates back to pre Roman times and is less than 15 minutes drive through the countryside and across the Diga (dam) that crosses the lake of Penne. You will find many bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets and banks, there is also a large market on Saturdays. For the more dedicated shopper Pescara is 45 minutes away.
