Negrar is a traditional old town in a beautiful valley in Valpolicella. The apartments are in a pleasant residential area, surrounded by vineyards and with wonderful views of the hills of Valpolicella and the Lessinia mountains. The area is quiet and safe for children and has an attractive park/play area for parents and children. The owners, Mario (Italian) and Anne (British), also run the nearby Parry Bed and Breakfast and are available to help you organize your stay in Negrar. If you like they will organize trips to some of the local Valpolicella vineyards where you will be able to taste some of the finest local wines including top of the market Amarone and Recioto. Just come by in the morning and have a chat and a coffee and we will help you to plan your time in Negrar and the surrounding area. Negrar is an ideal centre for relaxation and country walks but also for trips to lake Garda, Verona, Venice and the mountains, and for evenings at the Verona Arena for the Opera season.

We prefer the changeover on Saturday if possible but we can be flexible most of the year. Prices for long weekends on request.

An open plan studio apartment with large balcony overlooking gardens (plenty of room to eat outside). The sleeping area has 1 double bed and 1 single bed - and space for another single bed on request, and a dressing table with TV. Large open plan kitchen/dining area with toaster, kettle, 4 gas hobs, oven, fridge, freezer and dishwasher, pans, dishes, cutlery etc. The living area has a dining table with 4 chairs. The balcony has a view over neighouring gardens. Towels and linen are included and changed once a week. There is a large wardrobe with plenty of storage space for suitcases etc. Cleaning at the end of let. 20 euros for cleaning at the end of let. |

Highly suitable for children, no smoking and no pets please. Internet connection and wifi available at no extra charge at Parry B&B.
Accessibility
The apartments are on the first floor and there is no lift, so unfortunately they are unsuitable for people with mobility problems.
Outside
The apartments are located in a pleasant residential area, with a large open garden and play park for children.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are on Lake Garda (30 mins by car). We can also recommend a day trip to Venice (70 mins by train from Verona) and the Lido with great swimming.There are also wonderful spa facilities at Sirmione (on lake Garda), Villa dei Cedri (Cola di Lazise, near the lake) and locally at Terme della Valpolicella.
Golf
Golf courses in Marciaga (on Lake Garda), Custoza and Villafranca - approx 20 km from apartment.
Skiing
Downhill skiing at San Giorgio di Bosco Chiesanuova and Monte Baldo (La Polsa, San Valentino); cross-country skiing at Bocca di Selva and Passo delle Fittanze, Conca dei Parpari, San Giorgio, all within 45 minutes from Negrar.
Special interest holidays
We arrange guided tours of the local Valpolicella vineyards with wine-tasting of Amarone and Recioto, and walks in the area of Valpolicella, Monte Baldo and Lessinia.
Travel
Car hire is recommended. Nearest airports are Verona (Valerio Catullo), Brescia and Milan (Orio al Serio - near Bergamo), Venice (Marco Polo) and Venice Treviso.

Negrar town centre is a five-minute walk from the apartment, and is famous for its pizzerias and restaurants. It is an excellent base for holidays whatever your tastes – swimming in Lake Garda or in many of the nearby swimming pools, walks in the hills, wine tasting and wonderful restaurants, music and opera, museums and churches and visits to Venice, Padua, Mantua, Rovereto, Trento and Bolzano. Gardaland (22km) is the most popular theme park in Italy with entertainment for all ages. The Lessinia mountains are just north of Negrar. Ponte di Veja is Europe’s largest natural bridge and the Molina Waterfall Park is a great day out for the family. Marble is produced and cut locally and the old stone quarries are well worth visiting. If you enjoy walking or horse-riding, Mario will be delighted to share his local knowledge. The nearest supermarket, Lidl, is 2 mins walk from apartment. Other small shops with local specialities can be found in the town centre while the supermarket Famila offers a wider choice. Negrar has a lively market on Mondays. The Sacro Cuore hospital is known throughout Italy and beyond for its high standards of care and efficiency.

Deposit of £150 required on booking in British cheque, which will be returned at end of let if apartment is returned without damage. Full payment due in euros on arrival. Cancellation fees: 10% up to 30 days before arrival. 50% from 29 days before arrival to arrival date. Please note that credit cards are not accepted.

Thank you for your great hospitality, Grazie Mille. We enjoyed very much our stay at your house - it was like staying with friends. We think, as we said, that the evening with Agostino and family was the TOP, but everything was SUPERB. Without your contacts and help, we would never experience this and visit all the great cantinas, and taste the world's sweetest grapes! All the good wine came safely home, but we now know that the wine has to rest for a while before drinking. It's hard for us to express how grateful we are for our stay at your house, and don't be surprised if we come back some day. Thanks a lot again.

Unforgettable, atmospheric, and spectacular are words that come to mind when remembering our first visit to Verona Arena. The staging of both Aida and Carmen was dramatic and breathtaking, while the huge cast gave the impression of being in the thousands! About the owner
Mario and Anne met while walking up Monte Baldo near Lake Garda on a beautiful sunny day in the autumn of 1991. Mario's skills as a mountain guide and masseur, as well as his generosity and kindness all contributed to the beginning of a very happy relationship. We married in Juliet's Tomb in Verona (which was the local registry office at the time) in 1998. Together we started Parry Bed and Breakfast, where Mario usually prepares the breakfasts so that Anne can continue teaching English at Verona and Venice universities.
Mario enjoys Tai Chi and reflexology, Anne enjoys swimming, reading (when she has time) and working in the garden, we both enjoy walking in the hills north of Negrar, going to Lake Garda for a walk or a swim and finding new restaurants to recommend to our guests.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Mario bought the apartments for his family and to be near to Anne who was already living in Negrar. We both love the area because it is quiet and safe for children, we are in the foothills of the Lessinia mountains with fabulous views of the vineyards and olive groves, and Negrar is close to Verona and the train to Venice, where Anne works. After we married in 1998 we decided to rent out the apartments, and now we enjoy welcoming guests from all over the world and sharing our knowledge of the area with them. Mario knows all the best places for walks and also enjoys organising wine tasting trips. We usually visit Fabio from Contrà Malini who is always very generous with our guests and other producers of Valpolicella, Amarone, Recioto and other local wines.
Unique benefits of the property
Mario Apartments are in a quiet residential area, with a large play area for children and Lidl supermarket just round the corner. There is no traffic because the road to the apartments is a dead end, but a small path continues into the fields through the vineyards, past Villa Rizzardi, with its famous gardens and on towards our favourite restaurant 'Le Vigne' in San Peretto (bring a torch!)
The apartments are 8 minutes' walk from the centre of Negrar, a small town with everything you need including a wide range of excellent restaurants, a few food and clothes shops and a first class hospital, which is one of the main employers in the area along with wine producers and stone and marble companies.
Lake Garda is only 30 minutes away - ask us for the best restaurants and places to visit.
